I don't see why ya'll are freaking out.

If James comes we have a little bit better chance of wining the title if not than we are in a better cap situation for the future.

I would do the trade because I want to win now and I only see this move helping this year. I will worry about next year, next year. But if we did not get him it's not like it's the end of the world it just means we have one less bullet off the bench. We are good enough to win right now.

If ESPN replays Wade getting hurt one more time, I will be forced to break-out my reciept and see if my plasma is still under warranty.

I agree, without some additional outside shooting, the Mavs and Suns can rest easy. Too bad, if true. The right addition and subtraction could have made a huge difference. Still some hope that a deal gets done.

Yes, we are good enough, but we could should make it better. I dont want to see Rafer's unstable performance ruins our playoffs.

I think if MJ is going to Detroit they probably offered Nazr which we couldn't match but I would be floored too if we get him for Sura,Novak, and a first rounder.

Some deals maybe be announced a few hours after the deadline, but all indications here are that the deal died.

just because it hasn't been announced doesn't mean it hasn't happened... i dont think it will get done, but stranger things have happened.

Most trades are announced after the deadline... they get deals in by the deadline, but the league lawyers still have to approve them. With each passing minute it's less likely any deal has been struck, but you're not going to hear about deals by 3pm eastern.

We already know... it's that Minnesota wanted a big man. That's a pretty sizable asking price for a soon to be 32-year-old malcontent with an oversized contract who isn't fitting in on the team at all.

However, I'm curious if Sweetney would've fit the bill... i.e., could we have swapped Bonzi for Sweetney and then included Sweetney in this deal to get James? I don't want to lose Bonzi, but if it would've landed MJ, I would've thought very hard about it.

I'd say Feigen writing that the agent specifically told him that the deal with Houston died and he had a slim chance at ending up in Detroit is pretty strong evidence to think it's dead.

    Timberwolves stand pat
    http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/breaking_news/16759796.htm

The Timberwolves didn't make any trades today as the NBA's deadline passed at 2 p.m., so they will have to look within their current group to resolve their woes.

No magic solution was announced in the form of a trade. And, realistically, that might have been too much to ask. So Mike James is still here, along with Marko Jaric, Troy Hudson and the rest of the team's guards. The Wolves had too many, and now they still do.

Coach Randy Wittman said after Thursday's practice that he wanted his players to play the right way. It's an old Larry Brown expression that became popular when he was in Detroit. And now Wittman knows exactly which names to call upon moving forward with the final 28 regular-season games.

Wednesday night's 100-95 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats at home featured Minnesota's biggest blown lead of the season: 17 points. The Wolves are 25-29.

One report says the problem could have been Minnesota's insistence upon whichever team trading for MJ to also take on Griffin's contract and now reports are saying the problem could have been that Minnesota wanted a big man.

I would like to think it's the latter since Minnesota does need a big man and wasn't really in a position to be ultra-selective and picky about who would take MJ off of their hands. It was very well known that they wanted to move him and considered his signing a mistake so it's doubtful they would have really been able to pull in a first-rounder from anybody.
