I would take Luke Ridnour or Chucky Atkins over Mike James- any frigging day.

Take a look at their FG%- Rafer has atleast 5-6 floaters that dont go in. You give that opportunity to a Ridnour or Atkins and they will hit them at aleast 50-60% accuracy.

Mike James will be perfect backup PG for Rockets.

CD and JVG , do it!

I'd be happy with Chucky as well, but for whatever reason that never seemed to materialize. James does bring a lot of what Chucky does, plus defense.

Ridnour is impossible to acquire without loads of assets and breaking into our core rotation. That is the kind of move to consider this offseason if we fail in the post season.

Agreed! Rafer is more important than most people realize. Without a stable PG like Rafer we would have been toast this year. Well I wouldn't say toast but we would be much worse off. Having James who is very capable of starting and playing long minutes would be huge not to mention he can be instant offense when Tmac is out. If a trade does happen let's hope that James has a renewed attitude like he had in his first stint here and he performs the same.

i think a first rounder is a fair counter offer by the rockets. i'd rather trade a first rounder than have to move bonzi or jake for griffin.

our first rounder might not be worth anything, really. sometimes you get lucky late in the draft. most of the time you don't.

    if you think about it:

    shane = lotto pick
james = late first round pick

    seems fair to me.

yes Mike is more talented IMO than Knight or Dickau, but I dont think that makes him the better fit for us.

Bulls have been trying to trade away Duhon earlier because of Ben Gordon, so I would assume they would still do it for the right price. With their strong interest in Bonzi, I think it coulda gotten done. I love Bonzi's game also, but Snyder can fill in for him decently enough.

yeah man that Johnson deal had me envious lol he had a good stretch last year or the year before filling in for Tinsley I think. Maybe Novak + 2nd rounder would do it for ATL

Let me say this one more time for those of you who dont read.

Noone is arguing about the NEED for a backup PG. So please stop all the talk about why we need a backup for Rafer. WE KNOW THAT.

We're arguing about if Mike is the right guy for that job.

u're ignoring many factors in terms of risk and reward. remember we're tying up our cap by taking on james, where as a late first rounder is very cheap and can potentially become the likes of tony parker, josh howard, or even a luther. so i'm a bit skeptical on the firts rounder, though taking on griffin's contract is fine...its only 2.8 million for one more season.

Thank You, As far as my 2 cents. I say it's time to win now and worry about the future after the season.

Man, I really hope this gets done.

MJ + Wells could be just enough to help push us into the finals, and with how snakebiten the rockets have been, it's time to strike while the iron is hot and not assume we have all these years to possibly win the title.

And for all this "deepest draft ever" talk, that doesn't mean there will be someone truly significant left by the time it reaches our pick. And even if there is someone there, can't be assured that's who we'd pick either, unfortunately.

    get it done cd.

Ok here would be my final offer to Minny.

    We Send them:

    1st round pick
    Bobby Sura
    V-Span

    We get from Minny:

    Mike James
    Rashad McCants

That way we lose a pick and a prospect but still pick up another young player to make up for it. McCants is coming off Microfracture Surgery and Foye seems a very similar player.

We need to get our bench deeper. If we can't find anyone else other than Mike James than i will welcome James back in Houston. It will be much better if we somehow could get Anthony Johnson from ATL after their recent trade.

What does the playoff rotation look like with both of them?

with MJ our playoff rotation could be

    Rafer/MJ/Luther
    T-mac/Wells/Luther/snyder
    Battier/Wells/Tmac/snyder
    J.Howard/chuck
    Yao/Deke

11 player rotation. 10 without Snyder

james will help when we play dallas and phx, we can him at 2 and rafer at the 1 and have james play d on terry or nash. heck or simply make him play the point. i still prefer not making that trade.
