Yea he is kind of bi-polar-ish about these things (about a lot of things actually). Although to be fair, during our 22 game win streak last year, he went from "facilitator" to a more complete player (aka a superstar -semi atlest) after Yao went down. But I"m not sure with the shape that he's in and the injuries he can even force himself to score (resist the temptation of chucking Tmac!) unless he can do it in a efficient and unforced manner.
I think also that because not every night Yao is going to be efficient like he was against the Bulls so there goes TMac and Ron Artest to fill the scoring gap. Also I'd like to see a healthy postseason for once, everything else isn't that important.
I hate that he says that he's content with 16 pts. I guess that drive to be an elite player is gone. Tmac should be trying to be one of the top scorers in the league regardless of of how many scorers he has on the team. If Kobe or Lebron had other scorers on their team do you think they'd be content with scoring 16 pts?
hey tmac if you are happy only scoring 16 ppg then at least play some damn defense while you are at it.
he did play good overall D. the only bad part of his D last night was going through screens (which he still closed out on shots for the most part). deng just got in a rhythm with those fts and got hot.
Glad to see Grady back to playing somewhere close to where he should be. I'd still trade his bi polar butt so we don't have to endure another 3 month wining session.
Yeah... he had a good game, but what I meant is that he shouldn't limit himself and he should try to be the best t-mac he can be.
he never said that. he simply said this team has a lot of scoring options that his role has to change (b/c he's the only player on this team who can change his role offensively and still dominates). he was still on his way to 20+ pts, 8-9 dimes if he kept playing. that's elite stuff.
I didn't get to watch the full game yesterday, but from what I did see, Tmac was back to form. It's kind of sad we celebrate one dunk from a supposed superstar, but I'll take it. Hopefully this will help Tmac put everything behind him mentally and go to the next level. And another note, the 'I'm the facilitator/Yao is the leader' quote sounds similar to when he first signed w/ the Rockets.
Not to mention, Yao was in foul trouble pretty much the entire first half. I think he's doing what most want him to do. Integrate, not come in and try to take over every game. According to most posters (not necessarily you) since he's trying to stay within the confines of what the team is doing, he's not being elite enough. If he goes out and tries to dominate the ball he's a ball stopper...guy simply can do no right.
lol, some of you have mystical powers i guess, belittling yao? in between what lines did you see anything that resembled him belittling him? he said he has raised the game, this is HIS team, he needs to take the most shots... i swear some of you should have your posting privilidges revoked until you learn how to read and analyze appropriatly
Once again as I've stated, Yao is the reason Yao doesn't shoot more. Its not on anyone else but Yao. In the nba, to shoot 17-20 times takes effort. It actually takes a lot of effort and every shot isn't going to be perfect. A player has to force a couple of shots during the game to get 17 shots a game. That's ok and Yao needs to understand that. Every shot isn't going to be 5ft from the hoop. Sometimes, he will have to force a shot from say 12 ft as opposed to rafer shooting from 24 ft. Back to tracy. Before the season a few of us said that Tracy is cool being a supped up version of Pippen. He's a guy that can score high 20's if he has too, but would be better with the talent as 17-7asst-6 rebs. Ron,aaron, wafer, landry, scola are all guys capable of getting into the offense. People want to look at what he makes and automatically wants him to score 30. Well, we've been down that road with the offensive liablities of the past and he doesn't have t force that issue again. Now if Yao and Ron are struggling, its his job to step up and fill the gaps, otherwise, he will just be a jack of all trades.
Wow. I feel bad for him that he was forced to average 30 a game in Orlando and then 25 a game here when all he has ever wanted to do was just be an ordinary 15/7/5 guy role player. I guess he didn't really mean it when he said he was "the best player in the NBA" in Orlando or when he has repeatedly talked about "imposing his will" or "it's on me." Now we know what he really meant was "I'm just doing what I have to" and "it's really not on me but I have to say that, Steven A. Smith, because everybody expects that." Sorry the Rockets and the city of Houston put all this pressure on you, Tracy. Let's go ahead and rework your contract so that you can earn some good role player money and not have to worry about the team and the fans being disappointed.
Yeah, its a neverending saga. If he takes 20 shots and avg 30, he's shooting too much. If he takes 13 shots and avg 16, he's a role player lets rework his contract. It shouldn't matter because the goal is the ring. No one said a word when kg was avg 17 last year or the fact Allen had his lowest avg in about 9 yrs because they won. Chuck in 97 sacrificed his offense a lot because he had dream and clyde and that's what good players do. It doesn't matter who scores or how many, they will be judged on playoff success. I don't care if chuck hayes scored 20 a game as long as the rox win.
I honestly believe that if T-Mac turns himself into a facilitator/fill the gaps kind of guy that pulls down 17/5/5 every night, and that if Ron can play under control, efficient basketball, that the Rockets could contend for everything.
