I always knew the Toronto incident was because of his frustration with his physical limitation. He kinda understood now that he is not the same he once was. I do not know if any of you guys were basketball players but I was in high school and I experienced the same thing. When you realize your skills isn't there and you wonder whats wrong with yourself you begin to lose confidence. For TMAC, the issue with injuries and people's expectations all pile up and I guess it was too much for him. I feel for him. People must realize he is not kobe.
I agree and I've absolutely been there. It was embarrassing and I didn't want to keep playing if I was just going to frustrate myself. But it wasn't my job to play. It wasn't my obligation to employers and fans to work myself back into proper shape. He isn't paid $21M to get upset with his game and quit. Evan
I don't get your first point at all. Everyone wanted him gone despite having won before. He had quit in their eyes and he was gone. He even stated publicly that he was leaving and bailing on this team. T-Mac has NEVER done this in Houston. Pierce was also healthy when the big three united. T-Mac was and is not. As far as the other poster goes, Deron quit on that play. Quit 100 percent and allowed his man to go right by him for the jam. Noone and I mean noone in the NBA goes all out for 48 mins. It's never going to happen. Yes he has looked terrible at times, but that is the result of physical pain that spilled over and took an emotional toll. People are overreacting because they feel they deserve a championship based on how this team looks on paper. They are blaming T-Mac for everything. Let's see how he responds, and save the judgement for the playoffs. If he quits during the playoffs then you were all right. I have a funny feeling noone here will be saying I told you so come April/May. So I guess we learned a valuable lesson. T-Mac is not SUPERMAN. I repeat, T-Mac is not superman and neither is anyone else in this league.
No, people are pissed off at T-Mac because it looks like he's mailing it in. It looks like he's not even trying. And according to the guys at the Chronicle it's not just people here--Morey, Adelman and the other Rockets' players have all told McGrady that he needs to get his act together.
Unless I'm mistaken championships have never been won in January, Would you rather win 60 games and lose in the first round? I'd much rather this team overcome obstacles along the way and enter the playoffs playing their best ball.
Currently the Rockets are in 8th in the Western conference and fading fast.....barely a game out of 9th.... Championships may not be won in January but they can sure be lost. DD
That they can, but I highly doubt that will be the case. There's no way, deep down in your gut, that you think we're missing the playoffs this year either. If that's not the case then I am obviously mistaken. Maybe I'm the one man minority that still thinks we can win it all. I believe, and I believe in our players from the starters on down. I believe in Morey and I believe in Adelman. I must admit that this has made the season more compelling to say the least. Believe me the man has looked piss poor at times, but I'm going to ride this one out and hopefully T-Mac wins you over in the end DD.
Unless he comes back and works as part of the team and not as "THE TEAM" then he is toast with me. If he comes back, and gets with the program...ala Kobe and the triangle offense.....then I will happily flip flop. DD
It seems like he is trying to prove that he is still good. He brings up his scoring titles and all star nods as if that would redeem himself. When he's talking he's not that concerned with how the team is doing with or without him or what he's going to do to fix it. He's talking about silencing critics and getting the "last laugh" as if that's the most important thing to him--to preserve his reputation. He's always been caught up about his reputation. "It's on me." Or telling the whole world when he has any little injury and how much its affecting him. Or throwing out last season's post season as if he already knew that we would lose to the Jazz (we were fated to but superstar leaders don't admit this). TMac needs a check in his head or he needs some serious media training.
I seem to remember reading about a year ago T-Mac saying he doesn't watch game video, because he already knew the tendencies of nearly all the players in the league. Am I dreaming about that? Does anyone else remember it?
now after 15 hours i first read this, it becomes real funny in my mind. "i thought i was playing hard, but when i watched the tapes i figured i wasn't." what kind of bullshiit is that? "i thought i was out of the 1st round, but when i double checked - i wasn't." (w agrees, "yeah, i thought we're winning the war and mission accomplished. but when i looked at the reports, i found it's not the case.") i actually want to be proven wrong in this case. but so far i haven't and i feel sorry. sometimes you'd feel happy to be wrong and awful to be right.
You know, although McGrady's recent play/attitude has definitely been a reason for the team's lackluster performances, it is most certainly not the ONLY reason. There are problems a plenty. I just wish people would remember that. I am a big T-Mac fan, and even I am now let down and disappointed in Tracy. I think as many of the players have said, everyone needs to look at themselves and look at what they can improve on. I think few on the team are exempt. The only plus I take from the team's situation right now is that we have a winning record, but it won't take them far if they don't get their stuff together.
That can happen both with and without T-Mac. And if T-Mac's playing the role of team cancer there's a good chance that the Rockets will be playing their best ball without him.
Tmac is the Mike Tyson of the NBA (minus the criminal stuff). He had all the potential in the world and should have been an all time great. Instead, he pissed it away by being a lazy and mentally weak. Now the guy is a has been, a joke to real NBA fans yet there are still quite a few people out there that believe him when he tells them he is going to turn it on and be the best again. They keep believing it no matter how many times Tmac gets Evander Holyfielded when things get tough. Someone photoshop me something here.
The only solution is for him to shut it down for the rest of the year. This will reduce uncertainty in the ball club.
I still feel that he likes the rest of the guys so I don't think it's fair to keep him away from the team, but he should be told to continue rehabbing with his trainer and to work with doctors for the rest of the season.
