Yeah, but JVG wouldn't be able to get a gimpy Tmac to play either......and Yao breaking his foot would not have been avoided. I think both JVG and Rick Adelman are good coaches, I don't think they are championship coaches, at least to me JVG isn't.....and Adelman may not be either, let's see how he pulls through this adversity. He did ok last year after struggling a bit, let's see if he can do it again. 20-11 is not great, but it ain't chopped liver either. DD
you are def right about that. JVG couldn't get t-mac to play in 05-06. damn I hope this year is not a repeat of that year for t-mac
using thta logic Phil Jackson didn't inherit a championship team from Collins The reality was .. . Rockets would have made the playoffs if the Rudy had not had a life threatening situation. so don't act like the cubbard was bare Rocket River
Also DD, do you think Landry and Brooks would have recieved any clock under Golum during their rookie season last year.
I don't know, Brooks probably not.....but I think Scola would have and possibly Landry....JVG did play Head some his rookie year. Just not anyone that was high risk, high reward. DD
Huh? Brandon Roy was drafted before the Utah series. Thus, I guess you hated him before the Utah series season ever started. Huh? JVG inherited Steve Francis, Cuttino, and a still-scrawny Yao Ming in his first year of coach. Got them to the playoffs with Jim Jackson. The minute he gets more talent (healthy T-mac), he wins 50+ games. Have you been drinking today DD? Not like you to have your facts all screwed up. This is where we differ, I guess, because I couldn't see any coach leading those teams... who still had a dearth of talent when compared to the opposing teams (Dallas, Utah) to much more. I don't really know where it started... probably when somebody else brought up my Adelman thread about how he hasn't really done anything he set out to do.
Do you recalled the Rockets being a lock for the playoffs before Rudy got sick and Mr. Mean took over Coaching? Do you recall that with 'More Talent' he lost to an inferior opponent? [Jazz were inferior to the Laker Team of the previous year] Rocket River
At what point does Ron walk up to Tmac and tell him he is tired of having to play on a very injured ankle because he is taking up for Tracy who has taken his ball and gone home since he can't make more than 2 shots a game right now? Ron Artest should be pissed right now and I'd be willing to bet if he did tell Tracy to man up every other member of the team would applaud him (quietly) for it.
The Rockets had some talent... but lets not pretend that Steve+Cuttino+young Yao was some contender that simply needed better coaching. That team was just about as good as it ended up. A borderline #8 seed in the playoffs. As far as the Jazz are concerned, I thought the matchup was a little bit more even. Rockets had two ultra-talented stars, but not much else. Jazz had more balance, better bench, and superior PG play. They also had a better coach who got his team to execute when it mattered most. But, a change was made... I'm not really saying we didn't need one... just saying the direction they took after that doesn't seem to fit. Also, saying they didn't have enough talent/bodies has been valid every year except this year... where if healthy, they have the team (on paper) to win it all.
I am a Rudy guy, will always be. That said, by the time he left he needed a break from coaching, from the team. I was all for it; and quite, heck: extremely, disappointed with the team under Mr Mean.
I agree. Also if TMac were adopting a "loser" attitude during the regular season, that would definitely affect Rox playoff position and morale; and I see little chance such a player would suddenly become a clutch player in playoff games. Once your mental fades, it won't come back easily.
I think that is the concern Tracy thinking he could just THROW THE SWITCH and go It didn't happen in the regular season . . . what makes him think it will in the playoffS? Cuase he REALLY TRYING THEN??? that is not a good enough answer Rocket River
macgrady needs to come out and say what the problem is so we don't have to guess. if it's his knee i wonder if he needs surgery again. if it's just sore, then ne needs to man up and play just like feigen says... just change the way he plays. he can still contribute.
I'm starting to think that T-Mac is just lazy and doesn't really want to put any effort in until playoff time.
He really needs to man up here. he is so talented that if he wanted to suck it up and play at 50% - a truly focused 50% vs. "a going throught he motions 50%" like he has done the last few games - he could still make a very positive differenece for the team. How can someone so full of talent be so short on heart and drive?
Sitting him would be a good idea, until he heals both physically and mentally. One thing I am not sure if he would ever heal in Houston.
