if you vow to do something, doesn't it mean you probably didn't do it and you knew it? here that "something" is fully committed to playing AND WITH INTNSITY. read the rest the article. other rockets weren't exactly happy about it. and we all know how important team chemistry is.
yeah but I guess it's good that he's admitting it and wants to change it. although, we know T-Mac. gotta tke everything he says with a grain of salt
McGrady's words are as meaningless as they come. I'll believe it when I see it but I don't believe I'll ever see it.
I'm not interested to see McGrady play with energy and intensity, maybe it's too much for him . What I really want to see is Tracy to jump with his bad knee, this year he always jump on his good knee.
I get the feeling that everyone -- players, coaches, GM, fans etc. -- was frustrated with the last minute decision to not play. Obviously it severely disrupted Rick Adelman's game plan, and the ever-changing starting lineups have been keeping this team from getting anything going on a consistent basis. I can see how that frustration would lead to an impromptu meeting where they ask McGrady "tell us exactly how you're feeling, and what are we going to do to get this season back on track? We can't continue on like this."
yup.. me too... something is terribly wrong... fully committed to playing? T-Jack was not committed till now or what?
I want T-crap traded by Morey and Les...better give those millions to someone who plays with heart and passion!
And we were worried about team chemistry when the Rockets got Artest. I'm a T-mac fan and all but the dude needs to get it together. I want to see T-Mac out there, not Tracy Mcgrady.
When we got Artest, the first thing going through my mind was that McGrady was going to pull a Shaq and nurse phantom injuries knowing we had the depth at his position to get away with it. And I don't want to hear about how he really is injured. Battier has been dealing with a real injury. Artest has been dealing with a real injury. Barry has been dealing with a real injury. McGrady has been dealing with soreness and a weak knee after getting his knee cleaned out (nothing structural) well over 6 months ago. Rehab takes 6 weeks, McGrady says he needs 5 times that. McGrady tried to find a doctor that would play along and give him an excuse and came up dry. I have no doubts that he doesn't feel like himself out on the court. I have no doubt that his knee doesn't feel "right". I also have no doubt that he blew off rehab/went through the motions in rehab and that is why his knee feels 70% instead of 90%. I have no doubts that McGrady feels somewhat embarrassed by his play and would rather sit out than make himself look bad on the court. I have no doubt he is completely coasting on defense in hopes of looking slightly better on offense. I am certain he is only thinking about himself and not the team. I also expect to see him return, like he already did once this year, with a STFU game to get the critics off his back. Once he feels comfortable he'll slip back to his old habits and be standing straight up, arms down, half speed on defense. He'll go all out to score points in the playoffs because he will again know that everyone's watching and he doesn't want to shoulder the blame. It's really sad. I've been advocating for a while that we do one of two things: -reduce his role and let him be the complimentary player that he's become. A 3rd or 4th option that comes and goes won't disrupt the team as much as a 1st/2nd primary option that's utterly unreliable. The chances of McGrady checking his ego and going along with this are slim. -Trade him for a lesser player that will show up and compliment the rest of the team. McGrady will be sought after next year because of his $23M expiring, but his value today probably isn't high at all. I feel Chicago (Hinrich, Noiconi, Hughes, Deng?) would be a natural trade partner, or perhaps Miami (Marion). I have a sinking feeling, however, that Les will hold on too tight and let this string play out. Evan
Chicago, yes, me too. Phoenix? There are issues there, too, and I could see a big time deal go down with the desert dwellers. (Nash and/or Amare anyone?) GSW with all their dysfunctionality. There are putative partners out there - find a match and let's march on.
