let me guess what's T-Mac's personal problem: T-Mac has been a close friend with John Amaechi since his magic days.
Whether it is true or not, I am just glad that Adelman and Morey called him out on it.... Tmac needs to get busy playing he is screwing the whole team with his drama. DD
If it is true, and it is affecting his play this negatively, it absolutely has a place here. It's a fine line, but personal matters that cross over on to the court are valid discussion points. Rudy's alcoholism and cancer. Maxwell's guns and his quitting on the team. Eddie Griffin's drug, woman, and gun issues. Steve's Superbowl snafu. It obviously predates the boards, but something like Lucas' drug problems matter when they derail their performance as a Rocket. If it's untrue, it's a major offense. If it is true, it's extremely relevant to the discussions. Personally, I'm not buying it or calling Goat a liar. I'm going to wait for substantiation on one side or the other (or both). Evan
Maybe, but T-Mac's back problems in Orlando supposedly had the exact same cause--an impending court case over child support. If his knee is acting up because his wife is pissed off and he's about to get sued then I think this is at least somewhat relevant.
isnt it ironic how this year tmac seems just a little bit crazier than artest is? all the non-Rocket fans thought Artest would destroy this team, but TMac is the one leading that charge...
I'm not a doctor or psychologist, but I think T-Mac is clinically depressed on a long-term basis. He's not soft. He just gets moods--mega-moods--that can make regular tasks seem like way too much to want to deal with. I bet it's sometimes really hard for him to even leave the house. Of course, those trips to Camp Chen-a-Wanda don't help! But I truly believe T-Mac suffers from depression. (If you're wondering, I think I have some of the same!)
Anybody's personal business should be kept private. Period. I'm not calling out GOAT,but this is my opinion.
I'm not a fan of delving into gossip and rumors about a player's personal life either... However: If the issues in someone's personal life are affecting the way they play on the court, and are affecting the product the fans pay money to see, I think it's a little more justifiable to find out why, even if it's the personal issues. That's why this discussion is happening - b/c T-Mac's play is affected and the product on the court is suffering. If T-Mac or any other player had personal issues, but their play on the court was unaffected, I don't think digging into their personal life is justified. The majority of fans probably wouldn't even discuss it or care if the performance on the court was meeting expectations.
Agree 100% on the knee, I think people on this board have been duped about T-Macs knee to some extent. You cannot throw up triple doubles and then play with complete apathy the next few games. Ron Artest is a great example of playing with effort and intensity while with pain.
GOAT, I have no issue with you saying Tmac is/ had an affair that resulted in a child...especially if you know for sure. my problem was with you saying....."I know 'something', but I'm not saying what......" and I was unaware of previous discussions.
I'm a psychiatrist. I don't know what his history is,therefore I can't comment on it but I do feel that his pain threshold is low and this can be exacerbated by depression.
You do have a point -- but none of the things you mentioned were unsubstantiated rumors. Unless I'm wrong, they were all fairly well documented/supported by news stories from the Chronicle etc. I think the right thing to do is to treat this as FALSE until a credible news source is established, and "my wife's best friend knows his wife from a charity organization" is NOT a credible news source.
The flip side of that is that there is a lot of insider information here that isn't documented by an external source. Right before Yao went down last year somebody with insider access posted here. You take the good with the bad, but on balance I'd say most of the info posted here from has been good. With this specific rumor I'll wait and see, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
Was it that he has bought a lot of Leman Brothers bonds (like many people here in Hong Kong did) that has become waste papers? Just wondering.
Exactly. I've stated this before. You know it from his demeanor, you can see it on the court. Last year when he was lackadaisacally dribbling upcourt and just slowly but unexpectedly reached for his ankle then hopped off the court as if hobbled. He wasn't physically hurt; but depression sucks all life out of you, and you have no fire. Same crap we're watching this year. Same thing when he asks out of games. You KNOW he's full of it, I'm sorry, he should have been over his surgery by now. And if this is the case, we have a problem on our hands.
Thank you, GOAT. This explains the whole thing. I never believed his back injury and his current knee injury.
You know, they might just need to move on without him for a while....if he needs to work through it, then let him...move on....the team can win with Artest, Battier and Ming......it would be a different type of team, but one that can win, especially if you start Brooks..... Others can shoulder the load while TMac gets his head on straight.......because if he is going to sulk on the court, he is hurting the team. DD
