I guess that just proves your point NY. MacB, cmon, you should have enough sense to know that is annoying. Mebbe hp didn't point it out in the most diplomatic way but having 2 screenlengths(well for my small screen, lol) filled with the same thing as the post of above when just the small blurb you posted at the end would have been sufficient is a little much. just my 2 cents. don't attack me, I'm not the forum police, just FYI.
Also not forum police but, I agree wih Crisco..it is kinda annoying to see all that quoted stuff when all you have to say is one sentence long...just my 02
hey ok guys, i think mb and hp and a to z have all gotten the point. but here's something to debunct the "texans stole christmas from the rockets" line: "And for all the buzz about the Texans, they're having to offer unsold luxury suites for sale on a game-to-game basis. " That is from the Houston Chronicle. Guys....please - goto the games. And I'm not talking to the folks who go to two or three games a year for each sport - that's enough. But geez, there's enough wealthy people in Houston to buy season tickets. I mean, Houston had the worst basketball attendance last year (Charlotte was intentionally tanking the numbers so it could move to N.O. so you can't count it). THE WORST. Worse the the clippers, the bulls, the nuggets, the grizzlies, hawks, heat, knicks. Worse then anybody. The 4th Largest city in America can't sell out ANY of it's teams...all with competitive talented players, an exciting future, and brand spanking new arenas (or coming in one year). I mean, Houston is supposedly a football town and it can't even sell out tickets to it's football games playing it's first year and in a brand new stadium? What's up with that? You guys need to tell your fellow Houstonians to go to the game or they are *losers* and truly deserve bad teams which is what the Rockets, Astros, and Texans will become without fan support.
They'll jump back on the wagon when we start winning. I know the organization like to see high season ticket sales becasue it's guaranteed income, but I think our overall attendance numbers will be up this year even if season ticket renewals are down. The mini-ticket plans and more cheap seats will help. Plus, I'd like to see what the total season ticket sales look like, not just renewals. We may just be seeing a shift in the fan base from the older generation of long-time ticketholders that can't relate to this team to a newer, younger, and more diverse fan base that is intrigued by the hope of soon-to-come success. Sales will also jump when the new arena is ushered in. Either way, my loud mouth will be at least 5 games this year and in front of the tele for all the others.
I hate 2 admit it but NewYorker has a point. There r way 2 many fair-weathered and apathetic fans in H-town. I've been guilty of it myself, growing up & living in H-Town I REALLY supported the 'stros, ROXS, and Oilers, NOW Texans....still DO!! I didn't always go 2 games, but I always bought alot of the merchandise!! However, now I don't live in H-Town, I really miss going 2 the games!! I still support the teams! I still buy the t-shirts, caps, jackets, etc....especially 4 my 3mos old!! I have DIRECTV nba league pass 2 watch my ROXS & Texans!! U truly miss it when ur not there anymore in Houston! I live & work in the Rio Grande Valley where it's Cowboys & Spurs country...yikes , believe me it annoys me!! Hopefully, Houstonians will realize that they have a great city wit awesome teams!!
Contrary to my earlier posts, the Rockets organization IS doing everything they can to appease the fans in a way that will build back the fan base. They are actually interested to our whack suggestions and because of Jeff and CC.NET we truly have a voice. here's to you guys... ...rock on!
Hey I go to a game everytime I'm in town and there's a home game. Which is about once every 2 years, but you know... Hey kids, go to the games!
I have to agree with the sentiment that it is the economy in general. I mean at least in my case it is. The company I work for has held season tickets for years now. Our industry is suffering (as is everyone elses) and to "trim the fat" they wont be renewing. So now I will get to go to fewer games, because I cant afford season tickets myself. I will definitely still buy some single game tix, but they wont be in the $59.00 a seat sections Im used to...and they will be few and far between due to my own finances. The season tickets ended up in my hands quite a bit since I was the most rabid Rockets fan at work. Now...everybody suffers. I guess we can blame those terrorists for the ticket sales slump.
