Wow, good luck next year, UThug. Charles made defenses respect the run. Now you're stuck with Colt and defenses sitting back waiting for the pass. Good luck with that.

UThug! Good one! I'm glad you took so much time away from the BBS to come up with such clever zingers! Who knew "ass clownism" was an actual degree plan at Rice? Not I....

Anyway, back to the issue at hand. It'll be interesting to see if this opens up a slot for someone like Scott as a highly touted high school RB. Someone else was even wondering if McGuffie would reconsider, especially now that there is a new sheriff in town up in Ann Arbor. Personally, I think JC was by far the best Longhorn this season. However, I always worried he was a threat to put the ball on teh ground as much as he was to break a long run. Sure, it decreased some down the stretch, but so did his workload for a good while. And, he did it against Arizona State, too. So, I'll miss him as a fan, but not his fumbles.

Vondrell McGee is also highly underrated. He's a different type of back. I don't know that he's so much a receiving threat, but he is a bigger back who might find more success between the tackles and in short yard situations. He also showed that he has some speed, too, with that TD run off the Chiles pitch in the Holiday Bowl. I assume he'll be the workhorse back next year, with a freshman of some sort and/ or Ogbonnaya mixed in.

I think Scott is going to Texas now. I remember reading that Charles declaring for the draft would be really important to him because he wants to start from day one.

Pretty much a Texas and Colorado battle. It's going to be a buisness decision for him. He can start at Colorado, win a few games, and maybe make it to the Cotton Bowl his junior year. At Texas he'll be the second back behind Vondrell, get 10-15 carries a game, recieve more media exposure and play for a National Title or at large BCS bowl bid every year.

I heard he doesn't like the cold weather, and likes that Texas has indoor facilities.

    LOL.

The Longhorns pull in multiple 4*+ prospects at running back every year. Charles himself was a 4*. We've now got a great shot at the top running back in the nation.

If you're hoping this is the start of the demise of UT Football, you're sadly mistaken.

    Sorry, bigtexxx. :(

The START? Now that is funny. You must have missed the countless arrests over the past couple of years and the current losing streak to A&M. Oh well, not to worry, I'm sure Mack will pull in another VY6 to make him look good again. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    bigtexxx!

    when did you come back?

good to see your obsession with UT is still strong after your hiatus.

I've been back for a while. No obsession at all. I actually kind of feel sorry for them now, given the fact that they're now no longer a top 10 football team and they've had so many arrests. When you've got losing streaks going with K-State and A&M, you know there's trouble.

And yet, Texas has won 10+ games for 7 consecutive seasons now. LSU, Michigan, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, and Florida (among other traditional powers) can't say the same thing.

"Rumor" has it that Charles made his intentions clear this early to "let Scott know" that he won't be in his way next year.

Vondrell will get a majority of the carries at first, but Scott would take over pretty quickly... just like how Charles took over for Selvin Young rather quickly in his freshman year in 2005...

    2005:
Charles - 119 carries for 906 yds and 11 TDs
    S Young - 96 carries for 487 yards and 8 TDs

and that was when Ramonce was in the pic

so Mack has a history of giving freshmen PT from the start even with a vet presence on the roster

But USC has won 11 in the last 6 seasons.

Charles would have been a Heisman finalist for sure next season. Didn't think he would have been a 1st day pick but if he can run a sub 4.4 Forty (which I think he will), I think a team will take a chance in the 2nd. The talent is all there, he needs work though. Hopefully this will bring in Scott, he's the most hyped RB coming out of h.s. since AD.

And yes bigtexxx, it is an obsession.

I was just saying I think 11 wins for 6 seasons is more impressive than 10 wins for 7 seasons. I wasn't knocking you or UT, hell I'm a UT alum, just stating that USC has been the more successful team.

Perhaps, but I'll take solace in the fact that they're 0-1 against Texas during that time frame. ;)

:D Yeah, it's obvious to all that you have no obsession with UT whatsoever.

Life is a little easier in the Pac 10.

I'll be surprised if Charles gets drafted in the 1st round. I hope he does though. I agree with others who have posted his stock won't get much higher. He's had a hell of a 2nd half of the season.
