Hopefully, he will be back to full strength. It shouldn't be rushed in time for next season. If he has to sit out another year, so be it. Just take the time to get it right the first time.

That said, I was happy to see Kubiak say that they aren't going to assume that any of the players that made it to IR will return. They learned from the mistake of last year waiting on Domanick Davis-Williams. I believe it was in the plans to find a better LT and move Spencer to RT (if healthy) and Winston to RG regardless of Spencer's health.

I honestly think that was more the point of the article than a possible career-ending injury to Spencer.

    At least I hope.

Hmmm, interesting. I had felt that when the Texans drafted Spencer and Winston that Winston would wind up being the tackle and Spencer the guard. I figured since Winston went from tight end to tackle in college that he would obviously have the quicker feet over a 350 lb. Spencer. Then they opened the season with Spencer at the blind side tackle.

And I still can't help but to think with Spencer's size that he would make a great fit at the guard position. I know we've got McKinney out there but he is getting older and he was moved to guard because we were having so many problems at the guard and tackle spots, not because he was such a poor center. If we were able to draft a stud left tackle and if Winston or Spencer were to develop into a decent right tackle, then we could go from being a bad offensive line to one of the best if not the best offensive lines in a year or two.

I envision a line of (stud first rounder like Joe Thomas), Pitts, McKinney, Spencer, Winston, Daniels. I think those guys could rock if Spencer recovers decent enough.

His bio sounds like a Kubiak lineman.

Here is a diagram of an injury similar to Spencer's:

I can see now why they compared it to a falling and landing on your feet type of injury.

Maybe the Texans are now realizing the full power of the Curse of the Boselli.

That looks like a pretty bad fracture, but supposedly, it's all healed up.

He must have torn his meniscii horribly bad, because usually they can scrape away the cut part and you can continue on normally (it's fairly common...I've had it done.). The lack of blood flow is the problem. The outer 1/3 of the meniscii get blood flow, and thus, you can do corrective surgery to repair them without removing cartilage. The problem with that is that it takes a while to heal because of only small blood flow, and tears are very unlikely to just be in the outer 1/3 (Mine was a bad tear and went all the way through the cartilage).

It's very doubtful that the cartilage will heal, but I'd be interested in knowing what type of tear he has in his cartilage, as I think that determines the prognosis on him playing again. They don't make it sound good, though.

    Hopefully, he'll be back though.

Also, what I was going to say is that it's very interesting that you have two tibial plateau fractures to two Houston professional athletes in one season. First Spencer, now Yao. It's a rare injury, so that's what's interesting.

Of course, Spencer's is much worse than Yao's.

Forget Adrian Peterson or a running back. Big bad bruising blocker for the 1st pick. It's been needing to happen anyways, even if Spencer was healthy, which I sure hope he can be
