Our perimeter defense is still awful WITH Shane out there. For a player that supposed to be a real impact player defensively, he’s not making much of an impact on our perimeter defense.

    "Team speed and defense problematic."
    We need firey players.
We need players that can create their own shot.
    We need a 3rd scorer.
    We need 3pt shooters.

I have the answer! Mike James.

    Oops. :(

Mike James, Tmac, Battier, Hayes, Yao.
3 scorers and 2 hustle role players. If only..... :(

Watch the games. The acquisition of Battier has not made us better defensively on the perimeter than we have been the past couple of seasons.

101.3 points is not that impressive a number for a one-dimensional defensive specialist.

Rockets seem to take a lot of long field goals with nobody under the basket esp. with Hayes out. He seems many times to be the only one consistently under the basket. Sometimes I see no Yao - maybe Tmac fires up too quick before Yao is back? Maybe Yao is out and Howard does not seem to play inside much.

But other teams consistently have from 1-3 guys crashing the boards offensively. We seem to do it a lot less than others. Once the 18 footer goes up in the air it seems like a lot of our guys head back on D.

Case in point - JHo actually got a foul shot rebound last night, and the other 4 guys were already gone, so he put up a 10-12 footer which missed.

I wonder if this is part our tendencies of having no bruising PF types, Hayes is our only very good rebounder per minute, Yao is getting better. Or is part of it JVG's scheme for playing rebounds and getting back on team D?

We just look so much diff than other teams on the Offensive boards.
