The expiring contract is not worth as much as a fit and rejuvenated McGrady. I doubt if he can do it,but it's in the Rockets interest if he plays well. This will increase his trade value. Teams will be willing to give more for him then. Adelman and DM are concerned that about his impact on the team if he fails, which is understandable too. If he does play well, within the team concept we could come closer to reaching the playoffs which management wants as well. I expect them to try and trade him ala Rafer at the deadline, but the poison pill that we get along with a "name" might be of little use to us. If there are no buyers around for him ala LaFrentz, the worst thing that can happen is to send him home eg Tinsley. Only time will tell what will happen, but I don't expect the Rockets to buy him out and release him like Iverson.
agreed. I also think we are getting close to a resolution. I don't believe Les/Morey/Adelman want this issue affecting the team.
Hey Doc, good to have you back.........sounds like he might not suit up again (in a game..LOL) for us.
All I can say is, I am much more inclined to believe an article with named sources or in the very least an actual quote somewhere. This is an editorial piece. And EVERYONE here knows Justice flip flops more than Mary Lou Retton, circa 1984. All of a sudden, we believe what he has to say? Personally, I would rather they ALL just shut the hell up. Let me know when I tune into pregame if he's gonna play or not. That's all I care about. The rest of this is just Beverly Hills 90210 nonsense. I'm 34, not 14. I don't care.
T-Mac is untradable as anything other than an expiring contract. If he was making a more modest amount(say $10 mil), then there'd be a case that he can come back, pad his stats, and get shipped out to a contender looking for a postseason boost. But for what he's making, the Rockets basically can't find a partner who'd fit. To Morey, T-Mac's value is simple. Either his contract expires and the Rockets make zero attempt to bring him back... or he gets traded to a team simply looking to shed salary, in a trade that nets us an impact player. In both cases, how McGrady fares on the court is immaterial.
How the heck can a official news organization allow two articles to basically contradict themselves? One is saying yes, the other is saying no.
It was only a matter of time. His true colors are coming out in full forces. His arse is as good as gone.
So many fans want Tracy McGrady to exit, so that the dramatics will end. These fans will certainly be complaining for the reminder of the season, when the Houston Rockets are failing every night. No NBA team will trade a player that will help the Rockets for Tracy McGrady. So Houston is stick with him. I do not think I can view 60 more games of watching lesser players try to surprise other NBA teams, all the while failing.
Wasn't Justice the one who said Hakeem should sneak into a Lakers bag and head to L.A. back in the late 80's?
Monday can't come soon enough. I think if the team doesn't let him play, then Justice's article will come true.
How does the Chronicle allow something like this to be printed? Do they have any editors over there that do more than spell check? When I saw this article, I expected a bunch of off the record stuff and anonymous quotes, typical gossip trash. But this is even worse, he doesn't even have anonymous quotes to back up what he's saying. Personally, unless the source has legitimate fears of reprisal, I would not quote anyone off the record if all they are doing is dishing dirt about who said what. It's like we are in high school or something. But Justice doesn't even bother to quote anyone, anonymous or otherwise. I could write that article from by basement if I wanted to. Just because it's commentary doesn't mean facts aren't necessary. The facts are there to justify the opinions. Let's look at this hit piece in detail: Notice the use of qualifiers like "apparently" and "said to be" (who said?).Justice puts those words in there so he won't get sued.
It's actually disgusting how a rook like you makes baseless comments. For the uninformed, from Clanton himself. “I think that I let him return to play a little too quickly,” Clanton said. “Perhaps if we had strengthened his knee more at the start, maybe he wouldn’t have had these symptoms.” Translation: Clanton shouldn't have cleared him to play. But I know that you're going to say that he was lazy and didn't train ad nauseam, blah, blah, blah, because you guys are one-trick ponies. For any rational person on here, read the links for yourself and you'll see why my last paragraph wasn't, "actually disgusting how wrong you are about everything in this paragraph." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6277503.html It's not like this management hasn't tried low-brow tactics like this either. Case in point: Landry's knee. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5867051.html Do you understand that rook? Not everything is as black and white in real life as it is in your world. Do your research first, you "ignorant" fan. Lest you not know what the word ignorant means and why it applies to you.
Who wouldn't love to see TMac come back, play hard and just fit into this team? I predict thats what happens. If TMac is really back in shape he can run, d-up and blend. Make it so TMac.
The Rockets have hustled their way to a 7-6 record, and as Shane Battier told ESPN's J.A. Adande, “It's cliché, but the sum of our parts is greater than any individual on our team.” haha...i have heard battier make this same quote before. embarrassing. clearly he doesn't understand the cliche, since he butchers the hell out of it. that's something drexler would say. guy apparently isn't as bright as people think either.
Anyone think Dick Justice was the one who leaked the "heated argument" story to Yahoo? I bet he is their source.
