i had this same injury late last year. i had been training for an olympic distance triathlon and was having knee pain. not wanting to relaly hurt myself i went to the doc. he originally thought it could have been a partially torn meniscus, but the mri showed everything looked fine, just a serious knee bone bruise.

it was painful and sore all the time, but it was not to a level where you could not deal with it. my problem was that the from the time the doc said shut it down to the time when he said it was a knee bone bruise was 3 weeks.... so i had to miss my oly.... :(

t-mac is a giant vag.... end of story. the funny part is that if you read up on a knee bone bruise it takes 4-6 months to fully heal. not much else you can dp for it besides rest. the pain is more of a soreness not excruiating, moreso just anoooying, nagging, and always there.

BUT the article clearly states that it is only a knee bone brusie. big difference from that to a knee sprain. if he has a knee sprain then the time off would be justified.

not to be negative or anything but i dont see us winning for awhile if he doesnt come back

we definately dont have a chance against boston...theyre the best team in league

orlando...we have a chance without mac but more than likely we will lose

and golden state...we would need to play really good and be quick on defense. its possible but most likely we will lose.

    we need t-mac...

Why the hell not? Since the Denver game, the intensity and the purpose they are playing with has been fantastic. That's mostly been done basically without the prima donna. We've beaten San Antonio without him and are showing that we CAN compete with the rest of the league without him. I think Yao is gaining the team's trust as a go-to guy and it's only going to get better...

Screw the guy. Whether he's really hurt or not, whether he wants to be traded or not...I'm enjoying watching this team compete without their lazy, sulking "star." They all seem to be good guys, and they look like they're coming together before our eyes. I never thought it would happen without McGrady either...

    How's that for optimism.

So waht? Before he quit on Magics, he never quit on Magics either.

He already show signs of quitting on Rockets -- Smile after a lousy loss by Rockets, etc.

The difference is that Clyde was carried off on a stretcher. I'm not even sure when T-Mac got injured. It's not like there was a specific play which we can refer to and say for sure, that was when McGrady was injured.

It appears to me that he began favoring his leg against Toronto when the team collapsed. And I don't believe he quit that game b/c of a knee injury. If he truly had a serious knee injury then he would not have played another game.

The thing which frustrates me is that if you are injured then you don't play. If you are hurt then you play. Is McGrady hurt or injured? He keeps switching up his status.

Personally I do not want to see him play. I hope our players go on a nice win streak and prove to everybody that we don't depend on Tracy.

Everytime I start hating on him, I think of some of the most amazing plays/games he has had and feel thankful he is in a Rockets uniform.

Another frustration as a fan, his talent level is at such a high level that it makes him a great player but he still not even live up to his potential.

a different interesting perspective from Jon Feigen @ houston chronicle:

(The situations are not analogous. That season, the Magic were crashing to a horrible season. This season, the Rockets were struggling and disappointing, but playing better recently. Obviously, it would have been better had he not slacked off that season, but that did not appear to be the case this season. In his last two games, he was playing well with the injury and was hurt again on an unusually aggressive dunk. When I ask if he is babying the injury, the answer comes back that he did play with the injury and that it did not work. Also, I don't have access to the MRI and wouldn't know what I was seeing if I did. But when people assume there are conspiracies, they basically are saying someone is lying. They are not. He is hurt. It's not an uncommon injury. It gets better at its own, unpredictable pace. Steve Francis missed much of last season this way. McGrady does not know when he will be well, but when it did not respond to treatment when playing, the decision was made to sit out, treat it and see what happens. This has been far more ordinary than mysterious. -- Jonathan)

You think that Boston is the best team in the NBA? You're entitled to your opinion, but I think it is too early in the season to crown their azz!

They have already beat Jazz and Lakers on road. We will have a conclusion after they play with Spurs/Mavs/Suns.

On nba.com, they say that T-Mac is still uncertain. SO we ll see if he plays tonight. Hope that he does.

this guy seems like he has already thrown in the towel...it took a few years, but the Orlando TMAC is showing up.....
a bone bruise keeping you out 3 weeks??!!!! areyou kidding me?
get this guy out of here and bring us a player that acutally want to play...

I bet TMAC will be out partying tonight while the rockets have a home game..lets see if he is on the bench cheering on the team like most injured players...

we assume the worst with Mclady... because he has shown us history of detrimental behavior.... and worse yet a inability to correct his short comings….because of a failure to recognize or admit to them

why do you keep posting this, do you really believe t mac is as tough as drexler? I'm not even a big drexler fan, but drexler was tough. but its really not a fair comparison, two different types of players. but to compare their toughness is an insult to drexler.

    stop posting it

because its the same injury. there is a point here. But one difference that will put doubt in the fans mind; drexler never had efffort issues. The fact that t-mac does leads to doubt, even though it could be quite legitmate.

The silver lining is that it allows Yao to step up and lead this team and the rest of the guys to get comfortable, then when Tmac comes back - and yes we do need him, the team can get even better.

Fair enough but Drexler was carried off the court on a stretcher and didn't return for quite some time. McGrady bumped knees, played a bit more, sat out, played a bit more and has now shut it down indefinitely.

It sounds like Drexler's injury was more severe. I do see your point, however, and I think it is a valid one.

sorry about your injury man, but you prove my point here, only after you've suffered any kind of knee injury, you'll know how bad it sucks.
