Anyone seriously still think we're going to make a playoff run when we are "considering" bringing Stromile Swift back? 35 wins....tops (assuming Yao/T-Mac miss more than half of the season).
vin baker was an allstar and played for USA.....unless youre talking rockets vin baker?' dont slap vin in the face. maybe Marcus Fizer 2.0
Swift was selected as the #2 pick in the 2000 draft and has been a bust so far. He might turn it around. David Andersen has 8 yrs of suck, before he can catch up with Swift.
Actions speak louder than words. The Rockets are quietly rebuilding. They now realize that T Ming can't be a long term answer, so they're positioning themselves to either 1. trade for a franchise player, 2. sign a franchise player, or 3. draft a franchise player. It's clear that Morey is positioning the team for all three possible outcomes. 2010 is going to be an interesting year.
How can I do that when my opinion is exactly what I typed? I give him credit that he went with Chuck against The Lakers, but there were many games lost during the regular season where he didn't even put him in the game and others where he was trying to use him as a situational player instead of in the rotation. If McGrady can really come back to at least 65% of what he used to be, Chuck Hayes should definitely start. But again, Adelman refuses to utilize the pick and roll game when he has 2 players that excel in it.
You making this all about Chuck and blatantly declaring your "COF" status basically kills your credibility. It doesn't matter to you that Adelman is one of the best coaches in the game, all you care about is whether or not he plays Chuck. We get it. My point is that you can state your opinions WITHOUT tossing in that "no marbles" type of crap that everybody just rolls their eyes at. You are also one of the biggest JVG apologists out there. I'm willing to bet that you think JVG is the best thing that ever happened to the Rockets based solely off the fact that he played Chuck the most. Am I wrong? As far as the pick-and-roll game goes you've got it backwards -- Chuck excels at the PnR defensively. Not offensively. Sure, he's a very good screen setter but part of being a good PnR player is the idea of having a dual threat on offense. What good is the screener-turned-roller if he's cutting to the basket and is otherwise unable or unwilling to shoot the ball? Chuck gets most of of his points on cuts when people forget about him and due to offensive rebounds. Rarely do you see an actual called play that involves him.
You are referring to Chuck in Rick Adelman's offense, which doesn't utilize the pick and roll and when it does, he doesn't have players who know how to run it. Chuck sets a screen and rolls to the basket and Brooks and company have no clue how to get him the ball. Brooks is a slasher. When Van Gundy was here and they ran Pick and Roll a lot, Chuck DID score and McGrady was often left in 1 on 1 situations because of it. McGrady had a career best 6.1 APG in that final year for Van Gundy and Chuck Hayes had a career best field goal % (57.3). Chuck Hayes' field goal percentage and PPG have been dwindling ever since Adelman got here. And he has yet to utilize Yao Ming's true potential as a post player. To answer your question, no, I don't think Van Gundy was the best thing to ever happen to The Rockets, but I do respect a guy that knows how to adapt to the talent he has. We have heard nothing but how Rick Adelman is constantly searching for someone to fit in his offensive scheme. Morey has been shuffling players in and out.
Dude, Jeff Foster might be a role player, but a damn good one. Stro is nowhere near as good as foster right now in terms of rebouding and defense, which is what he is good for anyway.
It amazes me that people don't seem to get that "might get an invitation to camp" (in other words, "Maybe he'll be allowed to compete for that last roster spot, but we really just need him for practice") does not mean "Will be a part of the team," and it certainly does not mean "Will be a significant part of the 09-10 Rockets."
