It really sounds like he is working hard to carve himself a spot on the team -- good luck Stevie we're rooting for you.

I really want to see Francis play again but I have to agree with the doubters. Francis has said a lot of things before but given the past two seasons we should really be cautious in our expectations about him. I really hope he can come back and contribute but will wait until I see him out on the court.

I'm dieing to see him get playing time and do well...

...I want him to some how do so well that he out plays Rafer and gets the starting spot, but I know that won't happen. Just hope.

Well, obviously someone hasn't been watching the Rockets during the 2008-09 season. Perhaps you should fast forward a year and realize before training camp there pictures showing a slim and fit Stevie, having lost more than 20 pounds. Move away from last year and realize that the man has been rehabbing like crazy.

That's not to say he will even crack the rotation but he is definitely trying to make a comeback. Weight is no longer the issue.

Francis lost all that weight a long time ago.

IIRC, Stevie is SKINNY....almost looked like rafer. He lost all that weight he had when he came to Houston.

That's the 2+ million dollars question, isn't it?

I hope he still has some left in the tank, we could use help at the PG position.

come on now, did yall really think Steve was going to give up without a fight? Sounds like he is very determined to get back. I don't think he has to worry about the chants this time unless the rockets keep playing horribly which i doubt

I have a few wishes for this season and a contributing Steve is one of them. If his health is there, I think he can come back on pure determination alone. The dude has heart and this team could use that.

Plus in the event that we can pull off a championship, how cool would it be if Steve and Deke were part of it?

I still think Rafer should start because he takes care of the ball, but agree with others that a healthy Steve may help Rafer's play.

I would like to see this three headed monster of a healthy Steve, AB and Rafer. That could be fun.

I'm in the boat with you DD. I hope he has something to contribute. He has to be thinking this is his last shot to get some PT on this (or other) team for that matter. I wish him all the luck in the world in his comeback, however, I'm not going to put any hope in to him being able to make a difference, leaving me to complete suprise when/if he does.

Even if he comes back (which I wish does) I just don't see him cracking the rotation. Where will he fit? We have our original starting five for the season. Now we have Battier coming back. Then there's Landry, Brooks, Barry and Hayes in certain situations. That's already 10 guys.

Before the season I could have seen him taking Brooks' minutes. But Brooks has definitely found his groove so I can't see that happening anymore. It just seems like we have too many guys for him to get any substantial minutes.

good to hear I dont know what Steve has left in the tank, but if he does have anything it will just add to this team and make our other PGs work that much harder and improve to keep their spots in their rotation.

I am really pulling for steve i think his on court emotions and heart will help Yao out big time out there. I am being optimistic about him returning but realistic too I dont think he will see the court before Jan at best.

This great news for Rockets fans. If Steve can get back to say 75% of his old self and contribute it’ll be a great thing. He is the right type of PG that this team needs for coach’s system. Someone that can drive in and command a double team from the weak side freeing up a shooter, like Artest who in opinion is a better shooter when he gets the catch and shoot compared to him making his own shot. In fact worse case scenario is Alston will start to play better knowing his minutes might be getting cut, since it’s worked in the past. :D
