Regarding Span's play in the World Championship Game: "Vasileios Spanoulis, who recently signed with the Houston Rockets, especially struggled for Greece, making just 1-of-10 shots...." Sounds like a CD signing to me. Hate to be a downer, but I think this is a waste of a roster spot.

based on that reasoning he was an all-star 2 days ago when he lit up USA for 22 pts.

VSpan will be somewhere between "the next Manu" and "not worth a roster spot." He doesn't have to be "all world" to challenge the guards on the Rocket's roster.

I like vSpan, but I doubt he will have many performances in the NBA like he did against the US. In that game, he was pretty much an unknown player to everyone other than Rocket fans. In the NBA, opposing teams will scout him, prepare to defend his strengths, and work to exploit his weaknesses. vSpan will at best be a role player in the rotation who will contribute 10/4/4 a game. JVG would be thrilled if he gives him that much. My guess is that if gets playing time, he's more in the 6/2/2 range. That's my opinion...

My guess is that the Rockets like his quickness and ability to penetrate.

How does he rate as a defender?

Well have to see about on the ball defense but from what I've seen he's very good at playing the passing lanes and hawking the ball to push steals.
