After Vspan's performance against the Spain, I m sure there will be a lot games next season he will play like this game and replace Juwon and Rybo as the most cursed rockets player in this forum!!!
Didn't we trade to get him. I think a swap of second rounders with SA. Who did we give up and has that guy done anything or shown any promise?
We swapped with Dallas. They got a tiny shooting guard (Luis Flores 6-2 202 PG Manhatten Sr.) who is no longer around. Kudos to C.D. Commenting on the thread as a whole: He may be cocky but its not without some proof against some of the NBA's best. Right now I have more confidence in V-Span and his future than I do in JVG.
Anybody remember Rudy T saying of Rodrick Rhodes, "We think there's some things we can do as far as his shot"? Let's tone down the ROY talk about a guard who can't put long-range jumpers in the bucket.
People are just highly critical of rookies. They expect them to play like veterans. Luther Head got a lot of criticism for his play. Even Yao made non-believers of people this year, that were still thinking he would be a better version of Shawn Bradley since his rookie season. Many rookies are significantly more productive in their 2nd year. Unless you just come out on top like LeBron or Carmelo.
VSpan's biggest problem will be JVG's conservatism and prejudice against players under 35 who did not play with the Knicks. If he gets any playing time, clearly he will be a fan favorite. I have one goal for him, put Reefer on the bench, please.
Told ya so! When V-Span has rough times next season, JVG will get the majority of the blame no matter what. It will be like the Stro debate last season, though hopefully V-Span will turn out to be better than Stro if he shoots well enough.
Vspan will be ok he just need to control himself more on D because sometimes he get to agressive and foul the ballhandler and he will get into foul trouble early in the game in the NBA
There will be many up and downs for V Span but he has to remain aggressive, drive hard and keep his head up when it gets rough. If he can do that most of the time and improve on his outside shooting which needs a lot of work he may have a relatively successful season.
I haven't seen him play but from the description he sounds like an Allen Leavell clone. Now I have seen Allen play and that was a frustrating time.
OK... now this is strictly Old School so there are those of you out there who will look like this - - and then there might be some of you in your 40s who might look like this - when the comparison is mentioned. I see this guy and the name that comes to mind is "Iron" Mike Riordan. Not afraid to mix it up, can shoot, play D, raise the level of play around him. Not a star but a valued complimentary player. If he were a lefty the comparison would be form-fitting... your thoughts?
Truth is...VSpan probably won't be ROY because most of those guys are the primary offensive option on their teams. Thankfully, he doesn't have to be ROY in order for us to be dangerous, again. He just has to do what makes him valuable consistently, and I think most of that will be intangibles and aggressiveness. He and battier could be excellent glue guys...polar opposites in regards to attitude. Battier providing a sense of calm when the chips are down, VSpan (hopefully) providing a big enough sense of urgency to not rest on our laurels when we have a big lead. Hopefully
After drafting Yao, the number of registered Clutchfans went up by over 10,000. Greece is not such a massive country, but I would expect a couple of thousand more members, especially if V-Span goes on to excel with the Rockets.
V-Span is gonna be a great contributor to our team. I doubt he'll start next season but I'm sure that when he does play he'll contribute accordingly and will just get better and better. In a few years he will be a great starter for our team... and with any luck will help lead our team to a few titles.
