Ahead of what? All this "DM is crap" stuff only started because they let Adelman go. Guess who hired Adelman in the first place?

I don't think JS thinks Morey is a bad GM. I think he just fights off the "Morey can do no wrong" crowd by showing the mediocre results we've achieved so far. And.. he's right. People in Boston don't question Bill Belichick, but he's also won multiple championships. Why should Morey be afforded the same faith when he's yet to deliver one? It's a fair point.

In JS' defense (OMG, did I just say that?) this blog post was (an attempt) tongue-in-cheek sarcasm (which fell predictably short; it is Solomon, after all).

DM missing out on free agency last summer? I won't blame it too much on DM. Lebron, Bosh, and Wade teaming up together signalled a paradigm shift in the league which led to Amare and Carmelo teaming up. Our way of amassing assets under the old paradigm led to a fruitless backup center search ending up in Miller.

Really the strategic error the Rockets committed was not tanking 2009-2010, the year Yao was out. Then we tried to move up the draft to get Cousins but again, no one wanted to do us a favor. But with RA on board, how could we have contemplated tanking, right?

Solomon is right on. The Rockets are all about talking a big game and not delivering on much of it. I would not surprise me to have us in the lottery again next season with Morey on the hot seat. This franchise hasn't done much in the playoffs for 15 years now. Screw that, stop talking and start delivering.

I don't have the link to the quote but I believe Morey was quoted as saying they had a trade in place to move up but the cost was going to be very high and cause us to be strapped with a very high salary cap for years. I'm guessing it envolved trading with Philly for Elton Brand but thats just speculation on my part.

Dude I’m sorry but I’m sick of Solomon be a homer. Who is he to say we have the best assets to trade in the entirety of the league? I highly doubt he went through every single team roster. It's jackasses like him who keep giving hope to certain fans.

Now, I have long asserted that Howard could change the face of this franchise probably more so than any other player our there right now. be that as it may, why would we want to come here?

oh, I’ve spent countless hours telling myself the reasons
    -4th biggest city
-probably the nicest/newest arena in the league
    -no state tax
    -relative cheap housing market
    -smart GM
-owner whom is willing to spend money to win
yada yada yada, still no change

but once again, here we are on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Do I have a definitive solution? no, absolutely not. but for a holes like Solomon to keep instilling false hope into our fan base is starting to piss me off.

LA's salary situation if you trade a couple of the bigs works out great. Unless NY trades either Melo or Amare they can't afford Dwight. Hell they are in a tight situation as it is with affording other players. Billups might not be there after next season or whatever is left... If they pay Dwight than what does that leave them? Heck NY's pg situation is worst than having Fisher/Blake.

Yes, I can picture him in glorious red. Only winning 10 games with Morey's cpu coaching the Rockets, in the 2011-2012 season, we finally landed an asset that no other team has... the number one pick in the lottery.
That's what gets us this guy:

    ROSTER:
    Center- Dwight
PF-Patterson(scola comes off the bench. after his hops were taken away by his 2011 knee surgery, He now only scores 16 pts a game as a reserve)

    SG- Kevin Martin
PG- Lowry(Dragic, sixth man of the year candidate.
