I'd adopt the Lakers if Rudy was their coach.

It was not Rudy. It was Mr Mean who did Yao in.

JVG'd better not pull a Mr Mean, or Yao's gonna follow his Soup Commander to Hollywood.

I don't think Rudy would make a good fit in LA

Ever since they legalized the zone, Rudy couldn't coach a team to the playoffs. He's an old-school coach.

With Phil, Shaq, and Kobe, the Lakers can no longer win a championship. Only if they have Payton and Malone will they get a ring, and Rudy wouldn't have those two. So, Rudy + Shaq + Kobe(maybe) might get in the playoffs and that's about as far as they go. After that, they would get worse.

It's possible that, if Kobe leaves (or is in jail), Rudy will find himself in a rebuilding phase, and that's really stressful. Would Rudy really want that headache?

No, I don't think Rudy's the right fit for LA at all. And, honestly, I don't think Rudy has what it takes to win a championship in this day and age.

He's averaging less than 2 shots more a game this year than he did last year, in about 3 and a half more minutes per game. SF and CM are averaging about one and a half less shots a game each this year. This comment has no basis in fact.

As long as they have a dominant big man (i.e., Shaq) that team would kick @ss with Rudy at the helm.

I read the article and agreed that Rudy would probably fit the post-Phil Lakes to a 'T'.

I believe his demeanor and talents would be just what the Dr. ordered.

Rudy could, and probably would, win the championship this year with this incarnation of Lakers. Next year's team? Who knows who it will have but -- if the coach is Rudy and the 5 is Shaq, I am betting on the parade being in LaLaLand!

I, for one, will root for the Rudy's 78 times!

Like they did with Del or Rambis?

Why people choose to ignore the fact that LA with Shaq & Kobe did do nothing before Jackson's arrival! In today's NBA, you need a team to win it all, not just talent.

Rudy T won 2 championships with a dominant big man taking defensive pressure off the guards and dictating the offense. What have Del and Rambis ever done?

JVG for Lakers head coach! Gary Payton needs a defensive minded coach!

I liked Rudy T., I think he was a very good coach with TRUE professionals. But in todays NBA, you don't see many true professional players any more. It is Rudy's inability to manage todays players has cause him the job here with the Rockets. Do you truely believe the Lakers land is easier to deal with than the Rockets?

I think Shaq would LOVE playing under Rudy T's system.

Rudy T would LOVE to have Gary Payton on his team.

Is Karl Malone ever gonna play again?

Kobe's the wild card, but at least he'd probably feel a little more comfortable in Rudy's locker room than Phil Jackson's.

Though Dream was spectacular, we won the championships because we effectively worked an in-out game back when there was no zone. Dream got his shots, but if he got doubled, he kicked it out to the guards who would nail the outside jumpers.

If our guards wouldn't have been hitting those jumpers, our in-out game would have failed, and we wouldn't have won two championships.

It's not enough to have Kobe and Shaq... Dream and Cassell.... you have to have the whole team... Mad Max... Kenny Smith... Eddie Johnson.... Mario Elie... Ralph Sampson.... Otis Thorpe.... they weren't superstars, but without their strong play, we wouldn't have done as well as we did.

That's why the Lakers don't have a chance unless they have all four of their stars playing well.
