The Wolves play the zone a lot themselves so I am afraid they know how to beat it too. They are not great 3pt shooters but they do rank 12. The zone can also allow 18ft J that the Wolves are good at too. On the other hand, the Rockets are not so good at zone. We played the 2-3 zone last night for 2 or 3 plays. Gave up some open shots. The Celtics missed them but got the rebounds right back because we failed to box out. It's bad enough for our player(s) to box out their own guy(s). It's extra tough to box out in a zone. Our man to man and help defense is good. We will have harder time with the Wolves but IMO, you just have to go with your best.
Some good points, but wouldn't you consider Spree, Sam and KG 3 of the top 10 1-on-1 players in the league? I guess if we come close to shutting out their bench and two other starters we'll be ok. Maybe it's best to let JJ guard Spree, while Mobley and Cato completely take out Ervin Johnson and Trenton Hassell from the game? We have more options and WAAAY more depth, so I'm thinking maybe we can wear them down. We need to make use of MoT and Pike in this game to have any hope of winning. The Wolves are one of the best road teams in the NBA.
JVG haters, eat crow once again. The offense exists . It's just a matter of the team actually being willing to run it. And guess what.... Yao is starting to come out of his shell. Perhaps the frustration has been build to the point his is not going to take it anymore... time will tell.
Just for an hour or so before Dallas beat Philly. We have the same record as Dallas, but we're 6th seed because they have the better head-to-head record. Still, that's good enough for me. I'd love to end up with 6th seed, even though it would probably mean facing the Lakers.
They were talking trash? I didn't know that...well it makes the victory much sweeter. I hope the Rockets remember the Timberwolves blew them out and try to avenge that.
