You're right, what I wrote there was a mistake. It should be 105/100 instead of 100/105. The chart has it right, though. --- Statistically, the Rockets have definitely been improving offensively and defensively over the last month. But the numbers don't show this to be some radical shift in performance compared to last season. Of course, the numbers don't show everything ... but just for some perspective I thought this would be of interest.
Based on your charts (thanks), I estimate the season average of offensive-defensive rating is 105-98 in last season (until Feb), 105-102 in this season. And we do have a similar W/L record in both seasons (35/20). May I say offense >> defense? LOL. From the charts, I can see, the Rox played a steady defense in this whole season, and have been improving offensively over this whole season. It is a great sign. .
Say all you want, JVG's stubboness influence players and a lot of fans here. That kind of mentality doesnt develop in half of a season. Gotta JVG credit.
Man, the Pistons fans are brighter. I have never heard Pistons fans say their team is still playing Larry Brown's defense after Flip Saunders took over although the Pistons remain as one of the top defensive teams.
I have been a Kings fans for many years before a Rockets and i can tell you that Adelman's defense in terms of stopping the pick n roll is perfect compare to Jeff Van Gundy. There are times where the Kings are criticized for lack of defense and this is true due to the fact that their team don't have enough defensive-minded players. But there is one time where their team play pretty darn good defense thru the year, they're able to stop all penetration from pick n rolls because their players were able to rotate exceptionally quicker.
Rockets have the same W/L record, but point differential was much higher last year. Is that a sign that offensive >> defense? I don't know. Generally, point differential is the best indicator for W/L ... and I don't think being better or worse at offense makes a difference in that. I could be wrong.
