No, it's not always better to get something than nothing. We have a full roster - we'd have to cut/trade someone to add someone. Sura's contract still has value that you would lose if he's cut. Sampson has played less than half the minutes Padgett has played this year - he's just a decently athletic big man with no skill. I'd be fine with getting him for the TE, but I wouldn't even give up a 2nd round pick for him.
Not if the reason the guy is forcing his way out in the first place is because he wants more playing time. I'd rather have Padgett or Novak fill in in case of injury the Ely.
