    Its not worth it!!!

If you do a multi-team trade with LeBron/Kobe/KG/Wade/Dirk for VSpan I MIGHT think about it, but it would still be tough...

Just say no to P.J. Brown.

Last year, I might not have been opposed, but this year, he's more of a slower, less accurate Juwan Howard, though he can get the occasional block. He's had a good run, but he's done. At his age, he will be easily injured as well.

I would take Hart as a last resort, better than not using the TE at all I guess. I would not give them a pick, even a 2nd rounder. Maybe TE for Hart (no picks involved). OR Vspan for Hart + 2nd pick if they want to do that.

There is no way Detroit would part with Lindsey going into the playoffs. He is their most trusted bench playoff guard.

Chucky Atkins is the best of the above for fitting Rockets needs, by a mile.

I don't really think we will need S. Hunter or Brown once we get Yao back, but Hunter could be the eventual back-up.

Darrell A is an older lesser Atkins on a playoff team that probably wants to keep him because they are so thin on guards--not likely.

Damon Stoud. or Earl Boykins might be other options.

A Johnson would be from our end, except there is no way Dallas would send him to us knowing we could face them and possibly beat them.

I do like him as an energy guy whose young and has some talent. He really benefits from playing with Lebron though.

I'm not against having AV in the rotation as a banger type(he definitely would give us some flexibility),but wouldn't give up too much.

And I couldn't agree more about us needing a defensive/rebounding machine at the 4...at least for 20 - 28 minutes a game.I'd like to see us get PJ.

There is no way in hell we're gonna get Varejao. Cleveland's pretty high on this guy, no way we'd be able to pick him up unless we grossly overpay for him, which is definitely not worth it for an energy guy.

Chucky Atkins isn't perfect. His d is non-existant, and if you think Rafer has bad D, you should see Atkins. It's like he doesn't even try. At least Rafer does. But he does fit well offensively, thought I question his point guard skills versus Rafer's court leadership. Still, he's probably the most gettable and best fit right now.

Scott Pollard, I'd pass. Dikembe is better than him two-fold even at his advanced age. Doesn't say much for Pollard. Pollard can rebound, block some shots. That's it. And Deke does those better.

Steven Hunter is an interesting choice. He's a good shot-blocker. An okay-to-good rebounder. He's definitely in the Deke mold. But let's not forget he was with the bottom-feeding Magic team. And Tmac did once call out Steven Hunter in an interview, in not exactly the nicest way.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if he does come. Though if we do get him, then we'd have had 4 players, other than Tmac from that god-awful Magic team at our team through the past few years: Juwan, Tyronn Lue, Keith Bogans, Steven Hunter.

Maybe you can explain to me why we want a big guy at all? Deke is doing fine, and will soon be back in his backup role. Juwon has been fantastic this year, and Hayes is effective too. We have a pretty good PF double-headed monster, and yao/deke is amazing. Outside of a backup between now and when Yao returns, why do we need another big guy?

if anything, this would be a good move for the future. yes, deke is doing well, but that well will dry out eventually. ANd its hard to expect much more from chuck and howard.

a big man who is athletic and young is hard to pass up, especially if you are just giving up a trade exception.

if they pick up sampson he's going to be another magic lamp. unless the rockets can get a pick out of it, they might as well try out luke schensher. nuggs would only want the te in return to get out of a potential luxury tax fix.

I would like us to get another big, but we need a point far more. Deke and Howard have performed far beyond any reasonable expectation this season. We've been lucky there. The Rocks can get by with the guys we have at the 4 and 5. I wouldn't have said that when Yao went down.

I know Atkins's D is bad, but it's not worse than Rafer's. On a scale of 1 to 10, they're both about a 0. Even if Rafer's were marginally better, it's most likely a result of Van Gundy yelling at him about it constantly, and we can expect the same marginal improvement once Atkins gets the JVG love.

You have not seen atkins play at all then. rafer's d is lockdown compared to atkins. rafer is a good team defender and does try hard each and every play on defense the one thing rafer does back is fighting over the top of a pick to stop a guard from having an open shot he always goes under the pick.

The Charlotte Bobcats were finalizing a trade Tuesday morning, and there were initial indications it would involve power forward Melvin Ely going to the San Antonio Spurs.

Ely is playing on a one-year 3.3 million contract and has requested a trade that would allow him more playing time, sources said. The Bobcats tied him to that 1-year qualifying offer last summer in hopes of dealing him.

The team has an abundance of other options at the position, including lottery pick Emeka Okafor and Sean May.

It was not initially available what the Spurs would be giving up for Ely.

IF its true a big IF

but the cats already have felton at the point and then knight backing him up two very capable point guards who are better than udrih.
