    stand and applauds

seriously this guy is horrible everytime i see him play i am glad he isnt on the rockets. sure there are a few games where he plays real well and puts up stats but more often than not they are in losing efforts and his defense is simply atrocius. as soon as his man goes by he just stops and starts looking at the play and does not get involved again trying to get a rebound or rotating off. JVG would lose what little hair he has left if chucky atkins is on the team

Bobby Sura and Bonzi for Antonio McDyess... TE for Flip Murray, two separate but simultaneous trades. It works. And I think you can split TEs.

I think we are mostly set for now. We might want to add a young backup center if Mutombo doesn't re-sign.

Obviously, I would drool over the prospect of having a guy like Atkins as an option at the PG position. However -- primarily because we have T-Mac -- I would think that adding a big man who can play the 5 would be a nice insurance policy just in case of injuries to Yao/Deke.

We're very thin at the 5 and it would prove disastrous if Deke goes down due to playing too many minutes in Yao's absence...we need to shore up our roster in that position.

So count me among those who would be pleased to see a Pollard added to this roster.

He's a very good shooter and is a good finisher around the basket.

He would probably get a lot of minutes along with Yao and T-Mac just because of his shooting ability. Rafer has better instincts as a passer and is a better ballhandler, but Chucky is hands down a more consistent shooter and a better finisher in the paint.

Anyways, it would be nice to have a player like that, he adds more quality players to our roster.

Chucky Atkins would be a nice player to have but he's not better than Rafer. He is, however, better than Head, JLIII as a backup PG. We have a more urgent need at the big man position than back up PG, though.

i would rather have another vetran point guard like ATKINS.... to me, we are decent at the powerforward position and are thinner at the point guard position - just loook at what happend when rafer was thrown out of the game durin the hornets game.. we showed that our weakness was at point guard

atkins is shooting good this year and im pretty shure JVG can teach atkins some defense.. he is a Defensive coach...

and can anybody tell me how old Atkins is and if he has any playoff experiences????

Atkins would be an ok backup PG...but we also need a backup PF/C..I think Ely,Hunter, Joe Smith would fit... we should use the TE and Sura's expiring contract

I'm definitely all about taking Pollard for nothing. He's a tough big guy who can play while Yao's out, and his contract expires at the end of the season anyway. Is there a reason we shouldn't make that deal? Any at all?

Why would Cavs want to deal Pollard? Their team salary situation is similiar to the Rockets, ie in no hurry to dump salary.

If Big Z goes down they've got no one to fill in if they trade away Pollard. At least Rockets have Juwan or Hayes to slide over to C, Cavs have nobody else.

    Man, he'd be a great back-up.

Plus, didn't he play good D when he was in Detroit?

Thing is, if our exception expires in 2 days I doubt we're gonna land him. You'd think someone here would have heard something by now.

JVG is usually good with hints through the media about upcoming trades. It looks like the TE will just expire.

    Huh?

The article says the Cavs are a little more than $2 million over the tax threshold, and Pollard makes $2.2 million. So yes, I'd think they'd be in a hurry to dump salary.

Secondly, last time I checked, both Varejao and Gooden do just fine for themselves at center.
