Morey needs to stop with the smokescreens and trying to manipulate fan reaction and do a better job of anticipating the needs of the other teams in the league.

How much time does he waste preparing the script for his PR appearances?!

I believe that this is a strategy by Morey. We all knew from the start that we can't sign Lewis...I'm ok with Joe Smith...but we can move in other direction by trading Battier + players for a much better PF..then we could sign Nocioni to replace him (is he a UFA? )

Lewis will either stay with the Sonics or sign with Orlando.

I personally think he'll be with the Magic. He and Dwight Howard could make some noise in the crappy Eastern conference.

"so your advice is to quit trying. you should consider a career in motivational speaking."

Who the **** are you? Unless we find some GM that's similar to the GM for Orlando or another GM in dire straits, I doubt we are going to pull off a blockbuster SnT this year.

Face the facts, Morey is a rookie.

Rashard is going to Orlando. Sonics need to get rid of him and save money. They can just let him walk, unless someone offers them an upgrade to Wilcox at power forward.

Morey is only talking about Rashard to prep the fans for the next move. It's got PR spin written all over it.

The last productive year Joe Smith had was with Minnesota, or am I wrong here?

The rockets have a history of picking people up past their prime and thinking they are going to contribute largely (Sedale Threatt, Eddie Johnson, Jim Jackson).

They say these players will be role players/contributors (yea right).

This year's candidate is Joe Smith and/or McDyess.

Seems like Rashard is still mad at Houston and doesn't want to come here at all. "Houston ain't ready for me".

I agree, I would like to see the Rockets spend the money on someone with a Mean streak! (ie Artest)

Speaking of Artest, does anyone remember that game where him and T-mac were in that scoring battle last year?

If memory serves me well, we won, but dang, could you imagine those two on the floor together?

We would have a tough, mean, player with Artest, and the class of Yao, with T-mac making it all spin.......

You guys just don't get it. Morey has to "go for it". 20 other GMs are. It's the big prize this off season. Will Lewis sign here. Not unless we get a month of sunshine here in the month of July. (Yes, in Houston). So no, it's not happening for so many reason. Mostly money and yes, I would think there is some revenge factor and it's easier to win in the East. It's just that simple. I wouldn't even give them a long shot.

But as you may have seen in the draft, you can't predict the GM. It's also that simple. For all we know, none of the names he put out there are targets. If there was 1 person in this BBS that predicted the Rockets pick Brooks, please stand up!

Right or wrong, he works how he works. If we get a Francis or a Lewis or who ever, I would be shocked, floored and totally in awe.

Anyways, this will be a fun off season of surprises. I wouldn't think there are too many splashes to be made. Rockets will get a vet PF in trade or FA. That was his prediction and it's going come true. He never said anything about Lewis (who is a SF) before the start of free agency. Pretty sure it's all smoke and mirrors at this point.

While he not have put up big numbers for years, he has put up very solid numbers for a backup. Last year he averaged 23 minutes, 8.5 points and 6 rebounds. That's not bad production off your bench.

Now, that is saying they can make a move for a better 4 at some point.

Can anyone explain to me the point of this strategy? Would there be any advantage for us to pretend like we are going after Lewis? I don't understand why we would be pretending to be interested but then again I also understand that we have no chance at Rashard so maybe it is misdirection. I would really like someone to explain this strategy.

rashard is a scorer; battier is not.

durant/green are VERY young and the team would literally suck major if rashard isn't there.

they need rashard to be first option for at least next yr, then durant will take over.

remember, durant won't dominate next yr b/c his body is so damn thin/frail. so sonics know they need rashard (after trading ray) to keep them competitive next yr.
