I guess it's a little immature, but saying that Brewer won't be good in the NBA because defenders will be more athletic, stronger, etc..is a weak and tired argument IMO. Not only would the same apply to Redick, but maybe even more so since Redick doesn't have the size or the athleticism to counter it.

    Maybe Redick is OK.

    Redick ready to resume work
Back injury had forced Duke guard to postpone some pre-draft workouts

Former Duke guard J.J. Redick's back injury has healed, allowing him to resume working out for NBA teams this week in anticipation of the NBA draft, coach Mike Krzyzewski said Tuesday.

During his annual summer news conference, Krzyzewski said Redick had a disk problem that caused him to cancel workouts with Orlando and Boston.

He said Redick is contrite about his June 13 drunken driving arrest in Durham, which wasn't as much of a hurdle for his draft status as the back injury because he said the arrest was out of character.

Nonetheless, Krzyzewski said he chided Redick for having his mug shot in the newspapers. He said Redick is penitent.

"He understands that (he made a mistake) and has paid the consequences," Krzyzewski said. "That goes with the territory. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. He learned a lesson."

On ESPN, Gottlieb in for Cowheard, their NBA draft guy (missed his name) says Art Tellum, Reddicks agent, says take it to the bank they have a gurantee from someone between #8 and #14. Also they say Reddicks injusry is a non-surgical disc injury. He needed to shut down the tryouts but he will be fine.

He also said Shelden Williams had a gurantee between #4 and #7.
    (yeah baby!)

He thinks MJ wants Roy but with the players available at 3 he's not sure he's gonna take him.

He pulled out of the Sixers workout after that article... however we don't know if he pulled out because of the back or not. He may have pulled out because he got a promise. Don't know...

Hmmm....back problems and a DUI. How many red flags can one prospect have? I understand that these may be isolated incidents, however, there have been better college players passed-up for a lot less than this.

I have nothing against Redick, and if the Rox pick him, I sincerely hope he works out. But I'm about as skeptical as I can be, at this point.

That's very interesting. Of course #14 is a guarantee, but it could very well be us also.

Why pick between 8 and 14?

Also, if you have a guarantee at 14? Why would you cancel a workout at number 11?

I think the Rockets have told Redick they are taking him.

Do you seriously think everybody is lying about Redick's back? Come on now... could be why he cancelled a workout at number 11.

Did you read the article posted above, that said it is healed, it was a small problem and that he is resuming workouts?

I don't think his back is any more of a concern that Aldridge's hip, or Roy's knees, or Brewers arm, or Carney's heart, or Bagnani's flopping.

    :)

McGrady, you want a sig bet on who we take?

Why would I want to bet against a player I do want? I told you already I do want Redick, but it just seems like an unrealistic option right now.

To quote William Shakespeare, "To get JJ or not get JJ, this is the question."

This is the question that the Rockets need to address because I see Redick as an impact player on selected teams in the league, and the Rockets and the Heat are two of the teams that JJ has the best chance to shine. His game fits in with what the Rockets desperately need. I would be thrilled if the Rockets management team had the IQ to draft him.

Dang.....you want this guy so bad that your just making up things in your head. He is one-dimensional...Mike James can take it to the rack better than JJ.

And if the middle is crowded Mike James can pass it out to a wide open Redick for 3......

One dimensional? What makes you say that? He scored 28ppg at Duke, one dimensional players do not do that.

    He is a player...don't be a playah hatah !!

I am not guaranteeing they are taking him, I THINK they are taking him.

He fits the best, CD likes him, JVG says we need shooting.

He gets his DUI in a TOYOTA, with TEXAS license plates.....now where exactly did he get that car?

And he cancels workouts after the Rockets ..........it all fits.......

    Just do the math.

They're taking him if they don't trade up.

    Rockets and Jazz?

They really are the two best fits for JJ. And that was just the Tellum quote.

If he was a "playa"....he might have won a title in the FOUR years he was at Duke. Carmelo won in his freshman yr with less that Reddick had this yr and D Wade carried a sorry team all the way to the final four (w/ triple doubles). Im afraid his legs are gonna give out by playoff time and he will be ineffective as he was going into the tournament and we all know how he played in the tournament. What do I mean by one-dimensional.....averaged 9 three point attempts per game in the last 2 yrs.....over 8 per game for his career.
