Ok then tell me what players you think dont match up smart a$$ dont just make a comment that doesnt even say what you mean specifcally tell me what doesnt match up in your opinion!
OK maybe wade is slightly better than tmac but we very well may trade with the hornets according to insider and haslem is not tons better than jho and stro combined im not saying we are all the way there but we could be playing that same heat team come late june next year!
Haslem and you forgot Walker. Those two are better than Stro/Juwan. Not all rumors come true, the Hornets trade is too good to come true and I don't think it will happen.
You didn't understand my previous posts in this thread about DerMarr, did you? Go back and read them.
DerMar was very athletic coming out of college, and he was able to play the 1, 2, or 3. Perhaps the car accident has affected his abilities. I don't know; I haven't seen him much lately.
Yeah, that would make sense after a car accident. I just wanted to pour a bit of cold reality onto the intoxicated Brewer fans -- he's Shawn Marion, Josh Howard, Joe Johnson? whoa, not so fast -- because we can't afford a hangover. And I want to repeat my question: what is the minimum game we can reasonably expect from Brewer, and will we be happy with that?
Here's some vids and info for the top prospects. It's probably been posted, but oh well. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1357
Another athletic wing player with good defense in college, an all around game and a questionable shot who the Rockets reached for: Terence Morris.
ClutchCityReturns, I read all your posts since mine. Thanks. I don't have time to respond right now, but I did read and appreciate them. Great points.
I'm sorry the NBA draft bores you. I'm extremely interested in this stuff. gucci888, this thing is over 1000 posts long and I don't need to read junk like that. It's immature and I know you're not immature, I've read your other posts. You are capable of making a solid argument, do it. Post this stuff on the trade threads, but most everyone posting in this thread has been pretty cool. "Yawn.", shouldn't fly at this point. I got all excited to read some rebuttals and I get this junk. You are better than that.
To anyone looking for ronnie brewer footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNgfr74x4c8&search=ronnie brewer It's more of a game overall recap, but I enjoyed keeping my eye on Brewer. He had a one on one towards the end and passed off after being unable to break down his defender. That can say two things about him: 1) He can't create his own shot(negative comment) and 2) He makes good decisions with the ball in his hand(positive comment). His defense didn't seem relentless and nothing like a defensive stopper. He seemed rather relaxed when the ball wasn't in front of him. Off the ball defense is very important in the NBA. A lockdown guy doesn't get bored because his guy doesn't have the ball. Ronnie is no "lockdown" defender. It's not in his blood. Another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoDULYl4sFU&search=arkansas basketball This one is even worse. Lot's of boneheaded plays when he has the ball. He runs around the screen at one point(defensively) and his guy gets off his shot. This set of highlights makes Brewer look so much like Swift in the clueless athlete realm. Brewer does hit a shot with a guy coming at him and dishes an alley oop, but it doesn't really make up for the boneheaded type plays. (aka trying to thread the needle, playing lazy defense) The guy has all the tools in the world, but that doesn't make him a good carpenter. His craft seems to be lacking in this second clip. JJ Redick stuff I've found is just a bunch of highlights(should not be compared to the Ronnie clips), but I think it shows the motor that Clutch posted about in the draft previews: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3T4--5IFaM&search=Redick He gets some layups, some dunks, hits shots. Nothing new for Redick news. I noticed that very few of the highlights came from simple spot up shooting. He usually takes a dribble into open space then pulls the trigger. Also, for a guy with his athletic ability(lack there of) to get open enough to dunk tells me that he's smart. There is more than one dunk on here too. The guy knows when to release on a break away, when to jump inbetween passing lanes and does so instinctually. You cannot teach instincts and Brewer didn't show them in the Arkansas highlights. Another smart play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqBtrVXyDdM&search=Redick His attempt doesn't work, but at least he's trying to draw a foul. That's more than most players can say. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LNC3TOk_2U&search=Redick ^^^Stupid highlight clip, but JJ does something I haven't seen yet, hits a runner. I can imagine that kind of shot would open up some other moves for him. Another piece of the offensive arsenal. Overall, the clips of Redick are all edited to make him look good, but there are so many that they have to be repeatable. It's not the same 12 clips. It's 150 clips of him dribbling once or twice to get open and popping off a shot. This stuff about 'only a shooter' thing has got to stop. The man moves before every shot to get open. He has a turnaround jumper too. He doesn't seem to get to the hole unless it's a breakaway. Who needs to the hole when you shoot like this? The clips do leave plenty to be desired, like screwups and missed shots, but that's all I have to work on. The Brewer clips show me an uninvolved guy. He used his athleticism a lot less than I thought he would have. I expected a guy that ran around a lot, but he doesn't seem to. Of course he may have great timing and knows when to use his talents, but the highlights didn't show this at all. I'm still anti-Brewer more than pro-Redick. Brewer hasn't shown me much when he's been on the court. Redick HAD to show up every offensive play because he was the 1st,2nd and 3rd option at Duke. HAVING to show up offensively is an 'X' mark on him for me. I wonder if he would get bored playing behind Tmac and Yao. Brewer looks like he needs to work on his instincts. Unfortunately that's impossible, I think. Redick looks great offensively 5 on 5. Brewer looks a little lost. The lack of video variety may be a problem though. Please take this entire post into CONTEXT.
Jay Williams 2002 version of JJ Redick, overhyped player from Duke made better by Coach K's system that struggled in the NBA. I hope he fulfills his promise but the guy has an uphill battle since he acknowledged losing athleticism and speed because of the accident.
