The rockets are already at a matchup disadvantage in their backcourt because all their guards are small. They need size and quickness at the 2.
Not with Redick being 6'4" that is bigger than Wesley, so an improvement, right? Also, what was the name of the SG who got hurt in camp last year, and was out all year? Is he healthy? DD
I see a lot of mention of Novak as our 2nd round "want" but not too much about Kevin Pittsnogle. kind of like the fact he is 6'11" and can spread the defense. While not known for his post game, he does have a baby hook in the paint that could be used when they use a small on him. He is another shooter of merrit but shows weakness in the post and rebounding. As my coach used to say "you can't teach height but you can teach everything else except shooting touch". Rebounding and a low post game can definitely be taught and (along with Gansey) he was asked to take every big shot (mostly from three). If it is already here someplace, I apologize. I have only read the last ten pages of the post
I thought he was talking about Sura. I thought his injury was a big key for us as when we got Wesley, BS guarded the 2's on D and DW guarded the points and they reversed roles on offense. If Sura is back with anything left, I like him back in the rotation as one of those players that gives a team an edge and sticks his nose in everywhere. I do like Glover though.
If JJ goes to Boston and Shelden has jumped somewhere in the top 7, we could get a serious, serious talent. Rudy Gay/Brandon Roy/Adam Morrison type talent. I definitely hope we don't draft Pittsnogle. The guy isn't an inside presence on either side of the court. The last time we drafted a jump-shooting big man to take the pressure off our stars? Jason Collier. May he rest in peace, but I'd rather take Pittsnogle's teammate, Mike Gansey.
It's well known that Redick is a frat party boy. He's admitted himself that he binge drank almost daily throughout high school and his freshman and sophmore years. He also got busted for pot his freshman year, and apparently was busted for pot during the NCAA's this year, but charges were dropped. This is NOTHING new, it's just that now he doesn't have Duke to cover it up and get charges dropped. That being said I STILL hope the Rockets draft Redick. I really believe they are makign a big mistake if they don't take him. BTW, our own Bob Sura and T-Mac are notorious are hard partiers as well, so I think some people have to be a little less innocent on the behavio of star athletes. Redick has always been labeled another Kobe for his bratish attitude towards opposition fans, but that's something the Rockets NEED. This team desperately needs players with attitude, we saw what Sura gave this team. The centerpiece of the team, the franchise player, and the man that will decide what the team does every year (Yao) is almost too nice as it relates to on the court, the team needs these players with an edge, not another Rodney Carney type.
No way Rockets can draft JJ Redick now, his stock just went way up...the Portland 'Jail Blazers' are gonna pick him up at #4 for sure!
reddick would be a big plus outside the arc but that is all. offensively we'd get better but we'd get buried on D. nba shooting guards have killed the rockets. we need a better perimeter defender along with a player who has some skills on the offensive end. there's just so much to pick from in this draft. if we can get a steal, i say go for it! my 2 cents
Bob Sura's a party guy? How do you know that? I wonder what kind of people he runs with. He's probably one of those white guys in a black posse that Dave Chapelle says are the scariest motherf* around, because you don't know what he had to do to get respect from the black guys.
if I remember correctly he was pulled over for Drunk driving a couple of seasons back.....I am almost positive.
There has been a couple Sura sightings on this board, some w/ pics too. From what I've read and heard, he is a big party guy, and with all the free time he had last season, I probably would be too.
