Classic comparison But, in hindsight, this takes the cake!! Ron Artest, Chicago: Does a little bit of everything, but nothing exceptionally. Plays below the rim. Can he guard NBA 2s and 3s?
Redick's Late Season Slides bother me The guy seems like he would hit the rookie wall by November Rocket River once or twice is on thing. . but ever yr for 4 yrs. . . in the Midst of THE MADDNESS . . he pulls a disappearing act???
as for JW, his game was completely different from redick's. completely. redick is a (for lack of a better comparison) reggie miller to JW's (unselfish) steve francis.
good point, RR. i thought about the same thing and the only reasonable answer i can find is that he is flat out gassed by that point. the style of offense he played at duke (nonstop running around screen after screen after screen) probably wore on his legs. did you notice he wasn't getting the elevation on his shots that he normally would? i would hope that an nba coach (whomever) would a) not have him as the focal point of offense, so not so much "chicken w/head cut off" offense b) work on his conditioning until he was in the nash strata of conditioning. good point, though.
He is the man at Duke and obviously he felt tremendous pressure during the March madness. Yao and TMac will shoulder the majority of the pressure and that should relieve JJ to focus on making open jumpers. His frosh year, he was guarded by Kirk Hinrich in the March madness. Hinrich is a great defender (see how he made Wade his b**** in NCAA and the league) and you expect him to shut down JJ. This past season, JJ was doubled on lots of occasions against LSU. The bottomline is, JJ can be shut down when the defense is keyed on him. However, when he is left wide open.......I guess he can kill you.
Actually, Redick is now in ridiculously good condition... attributed to his desire to shed his self-admitted laziness during his freshman and sophomore years when he felt tired at the end of the season and had proclaimed himself to be an All-American Beirut (beer-pong, a drinking game, for those unfamiliar) player...
Yeah, Richie Frahm's shooting is great. I can remember all those big 3's he hit this year. The guy is just incredible. It's like we'll never need another option again. We don't need a guy that can hit open shots at 30%, we need a guy that will punish teams when they leave him open. That's why you use the lottery pick on a shooter.
Nice find on the Padgett comparison, but Langdon did not slip into the second round, unless pick no. 11 is considered second round http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_NBA_Draft
Man I am not sold on Redick, but I will at least give the guy a chance if we draft him. I worry about his size and his ability to defend. But I do admit that his shooting ability would be a great weapon on our team.
I keep forgetting this point: I don't like the idea floating around that we sign Mike James/draft Brewer. That doesn't work because there is no way to guarantee that Mike James will sign with us. I wouldn't try that strategy without getting Mike James name on the dotted line. You can't assume that we'll have everything Mike James wants. The Mike James deal shouldn't effect who we draft unless we sign him before the draft.
oh, and trajan langdon, "the alaskan assassin" had a weak mind. couldn't handle the pressure of the nba. having a decent career overseas, though.
LOL - yeah in a SG type of way..... What if Redick is already gone by the time we pick? In the NBA dish it says he pulled out of his Orlando tryout as he has possibly been assured of going in the top 10 picks. Danny Ainge played a very similar game to JJ, and he may want him on the Celtics. DD
