I think Morey and Adelman have some input into Novak's playing time.

then its time rox cut him. But i doubt it, with his shooting ability, and the willingness of the coach to run plays for him, he should get alot of playing time.

Possible with AB/Landry is that Adelman wants to coach them himself. Or the team want someone to stay back and pick up their bags.

Maybe if you'd have chipped in the million dollars, they would've.

This is a perfect example of one of the ways RA > JVG. Last year if JVG was not going to play Novak and Spanoulis they should have been sent to the D-League. But JVG said the D-League could not be "trusted" to develop players. So they just rotted on the bench.

Granted, Spanoulis actually has talent and was a whiner and probably was never going to pan out despite his talent because of attitude, but at least let the players a chance to play in D-league then.

Novak if JVG was still the coach would just sit all year on the bench. At least this way he can improve by getting some play time. Honestly Novak can be a Pat Garrity type player. There is no reason why he cannot be another Pat Garrity. Adelman will at least use some things at his disposal like D-League, JVG would not.

I'm thinking more like Pat Garrity, but close enough.

Well to be fair that's sort of what Euroleague is, Spanish league is, Greek league is, Italian League is. Euroleague, the A1 Ethniki (top Greek league), Serie A (top Italian league) and Baloncesto (top Spanish league) are all above the D-League, ABA, CBA, etc.

Any of those 3 domestic leagues is significantly above D-League and Euroleague is way above it. Also the ULEB Cup, which is the 2nd division of Euroleague is also probably above D-league.

Most of the absolute premiere D-league players are role players or SCRUBS at say Euroleague level. So if a player is drafted and doesn't sign with an NBA team, or not drafted by an NBA team if they are really a long shot for NBA they can go to D-League or CBA. ABA USBL etc.

If they are definitely NBA material but just need a chance or some polish or maybe some in-games to show scouts they can go to Euroleague. Mike Harris is a Euroleague talent, John Lucas III is a D-League talent. The D-League is way below Euroleague. So actually the real NBA prospects are signing with Greek teams, Italian teams, Spanish teams that are top tier in those domestic leagues and thus also are Euroleague eligible.

ADELMAN IS OUR SAVIOR! I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THAT OTHER THREAD THAT THE HIRING OF RICK ADELMAN IS WHAT INFLUENCED ME TO BECOME A ROCKETS FAN!

Okay then... explain players like Mikki Moore, Chuck Hayes, Amir Johnson, Kelenna Azubuike, Ime Udoka, Smush Parker, Devin Brown, and yes the hated Rafer Alston.

They all spent time in the dleague (as did Mike Harris before going to Europe). It is becoming a stronger league to develop in, and it is played with the same rules as the NBA, so there will be less of an adjustment to being brought up to the NBA.

I said last year Novak needed to be in the Dleague for a while to get more pt. Sitting on the bench last year did no good... that's the one thing that I thought JVG was completely wrong about. Everything else I could rationalize. If you couldn't bring him up and down with injury reasons then yeah, I can understand letting him sit on the bench, but since the rule is you can go up and down more than once (I think the limit is three) there is no reason why, when we are healthy that he couldn't be playing in Dleague games.

You go through team mascots faster than most people do cheap hookers.

Here's what I think the rationale is for sending Novak but keeping AB and Landry when none of the 3 would play:

They want AB and Landry to hang around the veterans for a while so they get used to the NBA routine. Neither of these has had been in the NBA before. It does some good to be around the vets and around the coaching staff.

Novak, on the other hand, knows the NBA routine well, he knows how to be a pro already after spending a year hanging with Juwan, Mutombo, the coaches, etc. His problem is that he hasn't played for pretty much a whole season, and really needs some burn (Landry and AB don't quite need the burn as badly yet, since they just came from finishing college).

In any case, I think the time for sending down Landry and AB will come later in the season.

You need to realize that any of those players you mentioned is a role player at Euroleague champions stage level. There is not a single player there that would even smell a starting lineup on a team like say Panathinaikos or CSKA Moscow. Yes Rafer Alston included. As awful as Spanoulis was at times in the NBA honestly JVG is the only coach in the world that would have played him over Spanoulis. And believe me Euroleague is clearly the 2nd best league to NBA.

Mike Harris at D-League level = clearly superior to other players. Put him at say final 8 level of Euroleague and he's just another rotation player.

The NBA is the best pro league

    HUGE GAP

    Euroleague

    HUGE HUGE HUGE GAP

    Spanish league

    then Italian and Greek leagues

    Then ULEB Cup/D-League

D-League is not even close to Spain, Italy, or Greece.

Good luck finding quotes from me saying that.....I am a certified JVG hater, but not a loon.

    :D
If I owned the team I would have.

Novak was never my mascot, that was V-Span, this year it is Mike Harris....I am like Madden a new version every year.

Funny, a couple of these players did more than smelling the starting lineup for the Houston Rockets, who beat Panathinaikos BADLY not even a month a go.

I guess Euro teams are funny... players who are in the actual starting lineup of a team that dominates Panathinaikos cannot smell starting lineup for Panathinakos.

Rick Adelman, who played Alston over Mike James and Steve Francis and Aaron Brooks, would tend to disagree.

So then it's of no coincidence that whoever is on your cover in any given year flops out.
