Nothing to prove? Chase and Hill for that matter should be halfway running the SL games, much in the same way that JT is.
Wow, I sure take a lot of heat on the interwebs by people that I am sure are more accomplished in life. Man, tough day for me....when the kids are even slamming me....sheesh ! I have said JT is playing well, lots of times.....but he also has more to prove and is trying to earn his way into the rotation. Ugh, why do I bother? DD
Every team needs a JT, a guy who plays with an edge, like "I will kill the m'fer who pea'ed (sp) on my bowl of cereal", especially on a team full of nice guys like the Rockets.
I'm justsaying, for the past two offseasons, Taylor has been almost dominating in the summer league. Yet last year he was barely on the court for the Rockets. I was thinking Chase and Hill would be a little more savvy at this point.
I like DD, and I love his videos, like so many here, but once he puts a label on a player, watch out.... lol. Guys, let's just lighten up, will you? It is a sloooow summer day, and thankfuly there is a bb game to be watched in about 30 minutes.
That I agree with and have always said this. There were a couple of times where he had a step on his guy off the dribble, but because he ball handling is so bad (relatively) it was all for naught. He atleast needs to lower his center of gravity more so that the ball can't be as easily swiped away or stolen. JT isn't a good ball handling either but he knows how to play low and use his lower body power to the fullest.
No one here understands what is going in these summer league games. 2 years ago Aaron Brooks was asked to be a floor general. They didn't want to see him score they wanted to see him concentrate on passing. He sucked his first games. But then he got better. He didn't suck because he wasn't any good he sucked because he was overwhelmed but what was being asked of him. AB previously had always been a score first pg. THey wanted him to dramatically change his game for sl and make everyone else look better. Eventually they allowed him to mix his new learned lessons with his scoring skills and he got better by the end of the camp. Most people on her have no idea what these guys go thru. They go thru film everyday and hen they have a hard practice everyday and then they play a game. And in that game they are asked to concentrate on certain specific areas. Budinger is being forced to concentrate on playmaking and defense. The coaches say that's what they want to seefrom him. They don't give a **** about his shot they know he has that down. JT has a great game but the coaches sit him down and say that's fine but you need to also involve your teammates and the next game he tries to do that. Hill is being asked to play the 5 spot and defend it like a monster and rebound and hold your guy on the block. he is struggling. PP had a great first game offensively. But I bet the coaches watched film with him and saud Patrick you got to block out better. We don't need a 3 point shooting PF he can't rebound. The coaches are working these guys hard both mentally and physically and some guys assimilate better than others. That's why while others or down on Hill I (a guy who when we first traded for him thought he was a bust) am not. Hill a late starter to the game of basketball has mostly gotten by on his skills. That doesn't work so well on this level unless you have Tmac or Shaq skills. Hill hasn't absorbed all of what he is being asked so easily. I suspect he is a bit overwhelmed and also a bit frustrated. But I see him trying and I was suspect of him previously. So I think judging these players after 2 Summer league games is a bit premature. I like what I see so far from all of them. Budinger's shot will come back but he will be a better defender and playmaker with it. JT will be a amzing to the basket scorer but he'll also be a little more focused on team play and defense. PP will be are all around guy. I see him playing the 3-5 spots when needed. Yes guarding Lebron, Boozer and even Dwight howard when neeeded. ANd hopefully Hill will become a real backup center for us eventually. That would be sweet but whatever happens these guys are working on improving every game. And in the end of games they play even harder and win. Yeah afterall that effort the coaches now say okay take all of that and step up your and let's win. What more can you ask for!
nah, D Wade lite when he puts it all together.. he doesnt have a shot hes working on, theres not any other similarities besides their athleticism, other than that Taylors ceiling and potential is so much greater than Smiths
Yet you were all over Von Wafer, who has one of the lowest basketball IQ's possible for someone allowed to lace them up on an NBA court?? I don't get it, and don't come back with "context."
cool story gramps  no really, i agree for the most part and brooks' 2ne SL where it took him a few games to put it all together and finally make a good showing in the last game is what i was thinking when i posted that chase still has a few games left to get things together
Deckard, I can't believe you don't get it.... Different teams, different needs....and yes, Von is not smart. I am not talking about off the court..... DD
imo, the reluctance to give JT credit has more to do with the love affair some posters have with Bud than any real issues with JT's game. Two things are likely to happen if JT continues to improve and the Rockets remain healthy: 1) JT is included in a trade alongside expiring contracts and a veteran to upgrade the roster. or 2)Bud is included.
D is off the court actually in light of your recent thread in the feedback forum i purposely lightened up my reply to this post of yours. but frankly speaking, this post was asinine plain and simple. not only were you wrong about JT being "a waste of a pick", but instead of even showing a hint of manning up and somewhat admitting you were wrong, you post BS like JT = poor man's JR Rider. DD i'm sorry but you really deserve a lot of the flack you get on this board.
I understand what you've said about Von Wafer in the past, and continue to say about him, and yet you continue to speak well of the guy, a guy who was basically tossed off the team for throwing a tantrum against his coach in the playoffs. Yet Taylor, who had an outstanding college career, in a relatively "minor" conference, but outstanding, none the less, has to "prove" himself to you all over again after a year with the team. Wafer? Still one of your favorite non-Rockets. You're right, I don't get it. I also don't understand how Wafer's issue with his back, something I brought up several times when he was with the team, was continually ignored by you and, to be fair, by most of his other supporters. Considering the history of this club the last several years, why anyone would want to touch him with a ten foot barge pole is a mystery to me and continues to be a mystery.
Personaly I think JT has all the tools to become an impact player if he continues to improve. The boy can just flat out ball. Watching these games, it seems to me that JT and Bud are a step above everyone else on the court. I see no reason why JT cannot develop into a Jason Richardson type player.
Agreed on his back, think he is a great backup plan....as an end of the bench guy and yes..I think he is a lot better than JT...a LOT better. But we have JT under contract so Von doesn't fit. Because Jason Richardson can also pass the ball and doesn't dribble with his head down and a lack of awareness of where everyone else is on the floor. DD
