They said they are going to trade for a starting Center....Stoudamire isn't a true center, but can man the position....who else can they acquire who can hold it down?

He's younger than Dikembe is not good reasoning to bring someone in. My great-grandmother is probably younger than Dikembe

Then you would have 2 shotblocking presences in Ratliff and Stoudamire

People on this board says I am too critical and cry about every move, but doesn't it make a little more sense to get a guy like magloire and mbenga as backups than a injury prone ratliff? I mean Petro is restricted and so is Fasenco, wouldn't it maybe make a little more sense to offer 2m for petro and see if denver will match or just try to trade one of the te's for him? What about Josh Boone? There are better short term options than ratliff right now.

If they're replicating the Yao (offense in the start lineup) - Deke (defense on the bench) combo...

    Hayes + White (non-guaranteed) + $3M cash to ATL → D.Andersen (S&T after 30 days, $3.55M)
*Hawks make a $1.064M cash profit and get a player paid for by the Rockets.

Andersen was the Hawks insurance signing if Zaza left but he re-signed.

    Brooks, Lowry
    Ariza, Taylor,
    Battier, Barry, Budinger
    Scola, Landry, Dorsey
    D.Andersen, Ratliff, Yao

We dont have a back up C or a starting C at this point. Chuck Hayes and Dorsey are too small and if landry is dealt then those guys will fill some minutes behind Scola where they belong.

If we can sign someone like Ratliff for cheap I wouldnt mind. This doesnt mean that we arent looking to make a trade for a starting C.

Cancel that Theo Ratliff note. Not accurate says Feigen. Theo Huxtable? Maybe Ed Ratleff?

"When Healthy" he's an elite shot blocker, a good defender and rebounder as well.

I like this deal, especially if it's for near the vets minimum.

Well I am certainly no expert but why couldn't we sign Ratliff and use him in a package with Battier for Joel and someone else. Just an idea, I don't know if the money works but then again I wasn't looking for the poster of the year award either.

i personally wouldnt mind THEO in a rocket uniform. he can control the paint and i know he'll be running the fast break effectivly or at least better than yao.
