Exactly, the article said the team is looking for a starter via trade, and the they'd sign a FA to provide depth. Ratliff provides depth.

Yeah, but given Ratliff's history with injuries, he's more "gap" than "stop gap." :)

Its just to fill up the roster guys. We werent going to start the season with Chuck Hayes as starting center. I'm sure its like 2 years, 4 mil, with 2nd year team option....

Is Chuck "AIR" Nevitt still alive? Someone phone that monster in the paint and sign him up...

Mutombo played til he was like 43, can Ratliff do the same?!? :p

I don't mind having Ratliff play like 18ish mins a game or so, as long as he's still decently effective at the center spot. We need to get a center. Even if it's just a one-year deal.

Or maybe we could keep picking up guys from the D League for 10-day contracts. :p though I don't know if there are many centers in the d-league..

Meanwhile, varejao, bogut, and bargloni (spelling is wrong, i know) are getting rather big contracts.

And if we got Theo you know Chuck would play a ton of minutes at C as well. Morey is just looking for some size and shot blocking. Scola, Landry, Hayes will get plenty of front court minutes.

Ratliff would be a good pickup as a backup on a 1 yr contract.

So would the Rockets still look to trade for a starting C or will Ratliff be that starter?

If he does come he won't be the starter guys i know that for a fact. AD will not put his butt on the floor.

Well, this one could be on the target. We have been targeting several players, this one is cheap, likely fit the salary requirements.

I like it. Theo is a shot blocker who rebounds.

I wouldn't mind Ratliff as long he doesn't play more than 25 minutes. Don't get all the negative posts, he can still protect the paint and grab rebounds just fine.

With this move the Lakers, Nuggets, and the rest of the West have been put on notice.

I wouldn't mind a two year deal as long as its cheap. Wasn't the whole point of this offseason to find a backup anyways? Theo can start this year and then backup, whoever our center is next year.

    I'd rather get Deke back.

Ratliff?? I don't think I saw one thread that mentioned him as one of the centers that Morey would be interested in. Maybe Old Man Rock was right, Morey is just winging it and has no master plan.
