See, this is one of the BIGGEST misconceptions on this BBS and the most often misinterpreted portion of my Myth of 2010 Free Agency thread.

The Rockets will only have $7-9M in cap room AFTER THEY RENOUNCE SCOLA AND LOWRY.

If they keep Scola and Lowry, the Rockets will have little to no cap room.

Now do you see how taking on Jeffries's contract has little negative impact on the Rockets' cap situation???

The obligatory "David Aldridge is always a TRUSTED source of breaking news".

Still, we've seen it through the years. Horry for Sean Elliott, Damon Stoudamire to Houston, even little things like the Rashad McCants/Von Wafer signing then failing physicals.

You just keep speculating until the deadline buzzer sounds. Until you actually see the player on the court in your team's uniform.

Why? What is likely to change between today and then?

Crapola......I meant to say NOT signing Lowry and Scola. Trust me, I know the implications of everything the Rockets will be doing moving forward as it pertains to the cap (or lack thereof). I'm one of the good guys. Haha :)

No worries. My response was not out of being pissed or anything.

I just wanted to clear that up, since several people (less informed than you) seem to think that the Rockets can keep Scola and Lowry and still be able to do something with their cap room. But unless other non-expiring contracts are moved (in large quantities), the Rockets will not have any "post-re-signing-Scola-and-Lowry" cap room to speak of.

I think they can renounce one of them, and then sign him back using MLE. Will it work?

Closer to the deadlines teams panick and show their hand.

We are able to get more bang for our buck.

Im 100 % sure there will be a trade as theres more to be gained then keeping mcgrady to expire as long as those contracts are expiring or good players.

we need to talk to more then 1 team at once... and play them off each other..

e.g knicks want mcgrady so we say we are also talking to bulls to improve our positions.

This is like POKER patience is the Key !!!!

    No.

Why would they renounce either of them? In order to create more cap room?

If the team opts to use its cap room, it CANNOT use the MLE.

    (Sigh.)

 (Btw, I am using this emoticon because I want to tear my eyes out right about now.)

Im starting to think that maybe the Rockets trade partner is likely going to be the bulls. Just for the fact that RA coached both Brad Miller and John Salmons plus the Rockets are interested in Tyrus Thomas. Hey why not. That package looks a lot better than what the knicks are offering. Also these guys can do a lot better and know the system. Well 2 out of 3 does but it works out best for both teams.

No. I mean the rockets can use the cap space (more than MLE) to sign a payer, and then use MLE to sign the renounced player. Would it work? :)

If were planning for the future the Knicks offer seems MUCH better.

You want to tear your eyes out because random people over the internet don't entirely understand the CBA and the Rockets financial situation?

What line of work are you in?

I believe the way the Rockets roster is set up the future is far away my friend. Looking at the age limit i don't see where the future is.

Just because $40 mil dollars is on the bench doesn't mean the rockets are planning for the future.

I don't think they are planning for the future. This season is basically quote on quote an experimental thing 2 find out which guys plays best next 2 Yao. If thats true I believe its going to be a waste because nobody knows if whoever can play next to Yao until they play with him.

Example.. Trevor Ariza..Guys are saying when Yao comes back he is going to help Ariza's game...How do we know that?? A.I and Carmelo was suppose 2 help eachother..Didn't work... Shaq and Amare was suppose to help eachother..Damn sure didn't work.. Larry Hughes was suppose to be LeBrons Robin ( lol i remember that )...Hughes had a fit...

I'm no expert but Bima said this: "If the team opts to use its cap room, it CANNOT use the MLE."

Maybe I misunderstood what you were suggesting.

No, because he's answered the same questions for what must seem like countless times. Heck, I know I've asked him things more than once, or forgotten something I've read from him before, and if I haven't been around the block, I've at least gone down the street. Bima's a bit frustrated by it all and I don't blame him. I just want him to put up with it and stick around. :)

You don't get the MLE if you have more cap space than that amount. And you can't get the MLE once you use the cap space and then go back under. It doesn't work that way.
