Do we want to have hughes or harrington? Hughes has a big contract, but if expiring next year? This would be better.

Hughes isn't such a bad fallback. By no means is he worth his contract, but he could be moved to another team, or simply give us halfway decent minutes at the 2 for the rest of the season....and, goodbye.

Doesn't surprise me. The deal as mentioned before was a little too lopsided in our favor. Harrington can help the Knicks make a push for the 8th seed, or, at least, "sucken-up" the pick they owe the Jazz.

Everone knows that Coach Adelman uses a tight rotation. And you know he won't take minutes away from Ariza to give to a 30 game rental like Hughes. Also, are you saying you'd play Larry Hughes over Chase Budinger?

You may be right about Harrington. With Dorsey going to NY, Al may get some minutes. But we will just have to agree to disagree about Hughes.

Harrington would be nice because we could resign him if he works out - and I think he would.

But Hughes...ugh... I don't care that he's expiring, I'd be tempted to walk away and just watch Tracy rot.

IF we are going to be taking salary then I want the Knicks draft pick, it'll probably be the 6-7th pick in the draft, not bad.

Knicks dont have a 1st round pick this year. It belongs to the Jazz.

if we take hughes the knicks take cook and the rockets are still under the tax

we arent taking back salary at all

its just an issue that the knicks want to keep harrington since he is a productive basketball player for them over hughes.

i dont see the big deal...at best hughes is flipped into someone who can contribute for this team

at worst he is a 2month rental who expires

Why would this kill it? He is a SG that can score and handle the ball. Plays decent D (was first team all D a few years back) and rebounds. When given minutes he has put up a decent stat line across the board. Ok, no he is not what he once was and is not that perfectly efficient scorer that everybody wants, but for the rest of the year WE NEED A REAL SG. I know you all are tired of seeing Ariza fumble the ball when he tries to handle it and create plays (based on most of your posts). Hughes has been very unhappy in NY and a change of scenery with a better group of guys and environment could help him play well for us. The guy can play minutes at PG, SG, and SF. We could use the versatility to help us score more points. That is our main problem right now. Why not give it a try for two months? You guys are looking at it like we are locked into him for the next 5 years at 13 mil per year if this deal gets done. I'm jus sayin....

    Hughes is terrible.

But no, Hughes doesn't kill the deal. Harrington or Hughes, either way, it's just an expiring contract. Would it be nice to get a little production out of it? Sure, but that's just gravy at this point, not something to get worked up about. And certainly not a dealbreaker.

I got a good laugh from this.. (Espn Knicks Board)

"Hes a good GM. Gets a solid young PG Kyle Lowry for a washed up Skip, drafts Brooks in the 20s, plucks Scola outta nowhere, steals Landry/Buddinger in the 2nd round. You look at their rotation and its just all bargain guys that they have collected over the years. Theyre getting 0 production from the 2 guys that theyre paying 40M. I feel likes hes gonna rip us off. Walsh has stepped into the cage with the lion."

This is Darryl face to face with the Knicks :)

Adelman is not going to let any of these guys play so this deal won't help us at all. The Rockets turn a former like Tracy into Jeffries, Hughes and Hill ?? You've got to be kidding me.

I took it as meaning we should lay a deal out for NY that they'd be more willing to do on Thrusday, but perhaps not today. As Thursday approaches, they could be more willing to desperately dump Jeffries' contract, so we'd get a better haul Thursday than today (Tuesday).

Hughes or Harrington? I say who cares? Neither would be here next season. Both of them can be flipped if needed for a long term contract that someone is looking to get rid off and we thing would be productive. Either way, as long as the rest of the deal stays the same we are getting something out of nothing.
