He was. I am sure Kemp was a beast too.

But, he is going to be better than Justin Williams because of his experience. So sign him up.

    you're a smart guy.

In the playoffs we might have to face shaq, Bynum, and maybe Nene. Each one of those guys are pretty good on offense but the biggest problem is they are just so big and weigh so much. We have some smart strong post defenders but besides Deke no one on our team can handle those guys. Each one of them can get the ball and back guys down with ease.

Dale Davis has great size and is a better pick up than Williams for what we need. Williams is unnecessary, until next year when we lose Deke, because we have so many guys who do what he does (attack the boards). He doesn't play with the energy needed from a light guy either.

If Carl Landry is healthy, I see no reason to add a Dale Davis. Replace Justin Williams with Dale Davis? Sure, who cares?

I know Davis has experience, but I don't think that gets you far when you are clearly too old and deteriorated to be effective.

I don't know how the rules work with the playoff roster and picking up development league players, and understand those guys would be pretty green, but given our recent propensity to get some good role players, I'd rather sign someone off a d-league team.

A Rod Benson, who's been dominating lately: http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/gamelogs.jsp?player=rod_benson

Or Elton Brown, or Chris Alexander

I dont think Landry's knee is that serious, he is rumored to be ready for the game tomorrow. BUT it does expose a glaring front court lack of depth the rockets have. If anyone else in the front court goes down with an injury (it may happens i hope not) then the rockets will be in deep trouble. Even if someone gets early foul trouble like Scola did then its even worse.

its just insurance, rather than getting a young experience big...why not get a big man who has played in the finals and numerous playoff games and has gone up against the likes of duncan, shaq etc. i think its a safe move by Morey if Davis does sign with the team.

I like Kevin Willis more than Dale Davis. Willis is a good veteran who can teach the kids a thing on basketball.

That said, we should get Rik Smit. We need a poor man's Yao when the real Yao is out. :D

    Toothpick?

This is a cleverly disguised Pig Miller reference.

Edit: And I missed Roxfan73's post.

That's the other Davis, Antonio Davis.

I don't think he will be able to help much, but then the only size we have is Deke, and he is 1000 years old, so we do need a big body with 6 fools.

Willis had short arms and small hands. I recommend finding OT.

I loved how announcers used to point this out... Was he on the Raptors at one time? Perfect fit for someone who has T-Rex arms.

Haven't seen Davis play lately, but I am always shocked when big guys who used to be All-Star caliber role players end up as washed up guys. Especially when super-star big guys take the plunge, like Akeem and Patrick Ewing, Jordan, Moses Malone, even Shawn Kemp when he got fat (couldn't dunk anymore). Seeing Ewing in his last year was awful, and when Toronto acquired Hakeem, I thought they would win the East; that is, until I actually saw him play with them.

How does a player go from being great/best when they're 30 and then be termed as 'done/has nothing left' when they're 37-38? I guess the physicality of the NBA game is so acute that any drop off in your physical sharpness means the end. Deke is really defying the odds with his longevity and effectiveness, but, then again, the Rockets are currently defying the odds with this streak.

Davis isn't 27 anymore, but if Morey and Adelman evaluate him as being able to contribute, I think he's be a nice back up to the back up at the Center position.

U can always challenge a guy until the team actually wins something. Right now the only guys that can't be challenged is Dumars and Buford/Popovich. No one else has won anything.

I said 2-3 months ago PJ Brown should have been on this roster. PJ isn't a star or anything, but he can hit the 15ft shot, good rebounder, great position defender, good ft shooter and good veteran leader.
