5 or 6 more inches. Better shot blocker. Veteran leadership, built like a machine.

Davis will add a lot of toughness and provide disaster insurance against Hurricane Shaq, who though he may be weakening with age, is still too much for Hayes. Davis is a blue collar lunch pail kind of guy but provides a bigger body. If he is still in shape there will be times we can use him. And considering we may be facing Phoenix in the first round we may be needing alot of help at the center spot. I say if he still looks fit then let's sign him.

I like this idea...Davis has a ton of playoff experience, is strong and can give fouls on Shaq or Chandler in the playoffs.

Maybe he can be an enforcer and knock someone on their behind if need be. If he was kicked out no big deal. ;)

I dont see him having that toughness he's had before. And yea he does have size but at the same time you cant be slow, otherwise your size is useless. Some one else said leadership. When had Davis ever been a leader at anything. Rik Smits was more of a leader than him. I fear Davis is slow and not as tough, that is why I dont see him bringing much.

What about that no talent asshat Maurice Taylor? Remember when we gave him a $48 million contract?

This will be a good pickup if it's just to foul Shaq vs Phoenix.

why are people rating this thread?
this is a repost of a possible late season pickup of waiver players

the only intrigue here is that we can't believe some people don't know who dale davis is. its not like we are a thread about picking up Lou Alcindor.

its freaking dale davis. and don't give me this crap that you never saw him play, cause the pacers vs bulls and pacers vs knicks were on tv many many times.
if you know ric smits, then how do you not know dale davis?

its like you know hakeem, but you didn't know horry or thorpe or ralph sampson?

At one point he was serviceable too, until he came to the rockets.

For some odd reason I read the title as "Rockets take a look at Dale Ellis" and was understandably confused for a few minutes.

Haha, I didn't know Dale Davis had anything left in the tank either so it might as well be Dale Ellis.

i don't understand why people are even rating this thread.

this is the equivalent to when dallas picked up kevin willis last year or when the bulls picked up john salley or when phoenix picked up jalen rose.

basically if you had diner, you would be talking about the excellent touthpick you got at the front. not really that exciting, not the main course, not the dessert or even the wine.

Reggie Miller is one of my all-time favorites so I am very familiar with Dale Davis. Don't know if he still got it but he was a hard nosed, prototype power forward. He's playoff experience which should help us out. At least much more than Justin Williams.

But 75 % of the old Dale is better than anything else out there.True,we all saw him wearing down at the end.But Dale always kept himself in shape (like Kevin ) And again, little more than a smart body that can snatch those boards that go over Chuck's head while providing interior defense is needed. He could never shoot free throws,but....He would at the very least give us more depth.Dale as you know played with the same kind of heart as Chuck but with wack hops.If the shoulder looks OK and he's in shape,I'd say he's good for 15 games plus the playoffs.

Sorry to interrupt. Morey finding a big guy seems to be in urgent need. Does it mean Landry's knee is in deep trouble?

You are not sure who Dale Davis is? :D

    Respect your honesty though.
