exactly people think when we get someone he's expected to put up amazing stats. he's just a role player, plus he'll probably get more minutes than gerald green. what if deke fouls out? we need another big to grab boards and get fouls.

i like this if it actually happened. dale davis is another big body who can bang and probably can still grab a few boards to keep possessions alive. he won't take shots away from anybody.

in fact in his prime, he was a legit starting PF.

DEPTH - that's the key to this team isn't it? :D

I would rather have Davis than Williams. No knock on Williams, but he is young and inexperienced; in the playoffs I'd much rather have someone like Davis to go up against the Suns and the Spurs. He knows his role, and has the experience.

I was looking at a free agents list and saw Danny Fortson on there. What do you guys think about him?

I thought Dale Davis died...anyway it'd be interesting to see Deke and him in the post, Davis played good for that Jailblazers team.

We should sign him just to get the "Skip and Dale" combo.

Seems like the Rockets management might have doubted how far this team could go at the trade deadline, so they didnt really push too hard for improvement, or make panic moves.

With the recent winning streak, I think they believe they could do heavy damage in playoffs and are looking at whatever the best option left might be. Of course, injury to Yao changed the whole outlook, but Dale Davis??

    a) The last time Dale Davis made an impact, half the BBS probably still had to hit puberty.

    b) Even in his prime, Davis could hardly hit anythig except point blank dunks. (missed a lot of layups too). If you think Hayes is bad at offensive end, wait till you see this guy.

    c) He was a good physical defender and rebounder. Now, I see him as primarily a 6-hard fouls-in-10-minutes kinda guy if we were to meet Shaq or Duncan in playoffs.

    d) I am not even sure he is better than Antonio Davis. I think Antonio was better of the 2 since he was more of a shotblocker.

wow interesting how some ppl here dont know who he is! Great defender and Rebound.

Great signing if it happens. Mutombo cant go on for more than 20 minutes. We need Veteran help just to be there for 10 minutes when we go thru those stretches like yesterday. I guess Justins not ready but will be evaluated during the season. It shows Rockets want to win now!

Rox giving Dale Davis a look?

I pass between The Four Seasons and Toyota Center every morning and saw who appeared to be Dale Davis this morning in some workout clothes with tennis shoes in tow....walking with a couple guys....possibly his agent and/or trainer. Thinking two things.

1.Rox may be giving him a look for a ten day to replace Justin Williams who hasn't seen much playing time....and deservedly so from what I've seen.

2.If this is the case, does this mean a) Landry is still a ways from coming back?
    b) Landry is returning and they cut Mike Harris (which I def don't want to see happen.

or I could just be over reacting to the whole situation, and maybe its the Celts bringin him in for a look.

Dale Davis is too old IMO. He can't help us out IMO. Justin Williams played well for the Kings. He needs more time in practice before he can play with the team.

We need somebody other than Deke with decent size to guard bigman. Basically, Deke can only play 20 min effectively.

I find it incredible that people in here are asking who Dale Davis is.Maybe it's just his and my age,but still.....

He used to be a jumping jack who had heart and could rebound with the best of them.DD would give you defense on the interior.Dude would give you 10 and 10 often in his prime.
Now,obviously he (and we) :D are up there in age,but he's a body who knows how to play the game hard.Chemistry guy who would fit in if he could hold up physically.

Liken him to a much more athletic Kurt Thomas in his prime.....Perrsonally I think Thomas is overrated bigtime..now esp.....

Justin Williams needs to hit the bricks as he looked awful.

Im in my 30's and I know who Dale Davis is ! He was actually a very good player in his prime ! Very strong and was a hell of a rebounder. Big strong muscly guy kinda like Willis but shorter !!

Not too many veteran big men available. The Pistons were about to sign Dale Davis b4 Theo Ratliff was available.

Dale Davis was the 4th/5th big in Detroit last season. 6 hard fouls and veteran experience are all you get. Still, I will prefer Dale Davis over Justin Williams in the playoffs.
