As has been said before, Morey would try to convince him to stay. There a ok chance too with 65M dangling around. If he doesn't, He will get something out NY for his trouble. And yes he will get SOMETHING because Melo is NOT going to give up that 65M!!!

Nah, I think they would offer less because they know that the Nuggets are desperate at that point.

the jersey offer is way better than anything we can offer. If denver is desperate they'd just trade him to jersey.

THATS THE WHOLE POINT - TO LOSE THE TEAM.

    He extends? Great.

    He bolts? Great.

We either get a contender or we get a shot at the worst team in NBA history. Either way, we win.

BINGO!!! They trade to us because Melo has no say-so in our trade. As a matter of fact, the Nuggets may not like being held hostage like this, so they might do it out of spite( Like the NY threat).

Yao's injured player exception the Rox trade without salaries matching up to about 5.4 mil $,so it does give them lots of flexibility.

But they are stalling for some reason, the question is What. If they just wanted to stockpile more wins, then why engage in trade talks so early in the year. If that were the case, they should have just waited until Jan. to start accepting trade offers. There's something going on.

    Melo+Nene

    If hell freezes over.

We can at least keep Nene if and when Melo bolts

Yeah I don't really see the Rockets getting Melo but if Denver wanted the most money savings as possible the Rockets would be the team to trade with.

    Carmelo for Yao
    Andersen for Ariza TE
    Harrington/Balkman for Yao Injury Exception
JR Smith for Jeffries and $$$
    Nene for Jeffries/young player/ $$$

Lots of ways to go, and then you add the picks as well.

I'm not sure how much Morey would be willing to take on salary wise to get Carmelo here though, especially without an extension.

We are not going to get the worst record in the NBA if Melo wants to play "half-assed" lets remember that there are 10 teams right now with less wins than us. In my opinion if Melo doesn't bring his "A" game here we will still get a 11-16 draft pick. In order to even get a top 5 draft pick we must completely flop out and get at least a 10 game losing streak then after that win 1 game out of every 4 games we get. I'm sure with Melo on this team we won't "totally" flop.
