    Overpaying for A'mare and Barbosa

MIN won't accept Cook expiring + 3 role player for Cardinal dump + Rubio.

The only way the Rockets get Rubio is to trade Brooks and Landry for Bench players of the Wolves. In other words, it would be impossible. The team should just forget about the draft already and look to imrove through trades ( veterans ) and free agency.

I don't see it happening now, but it's interesting to Morey's interest in Rubio confirmed.

I'm all for trying to pry Rubio from Minny but we need to seriously get a legit 2 guard somewhere to play alongside him. Having Artest at the 2 and Battier at the 3 is overkill and significantly slows down our starting line up because neither excels at off the ball movement.

Scola's constantly on the move down low and I think Rubio can definitely help Yao out as far as making low post passes but we need to have more movement out of the 2 & 3 starter spots for Rubio to be truly effective and Artest/Battier won't cut it.

You can have all the "D" in the world but if you can't put the ball in the hole it really doesn't matter.....my 2 cents

Eh, even if the rox are "still in the hunt", I don't see Houston and Minny as good trading partners at all.

Even if they trade rubio, they have the pg they want, so why would they want Brooks? They have Jefferson and Love, so I don't think they'd value Landry all that highly either.

They could use Battier and have a couple of bad middling contracts to get rid of(hardly albatross contracts though). But that's not enough to get Rubio. Any draft picks we throw in to sweeten the pot wouldn't be that much of an incentive either considering how the rockets are likely to make the playoffs.

Soooo, the only way I think a deal would happen is a 3 team trade. Good luck with that ...

I guess it would be either a 3 team trade or, perhaps, some other combination of our players before or after the free agent signing period.

If Minnesota wants to suck less and add a veteran that can help them, they could do worse than Shane Battier; and I suppose adding Carl Landry (Midwesterner, might not complain) or Aaron Brooks isn't a bad thing. Or add a signed-and-traded Von Wafer to some other player.

Seems to me some of our players would make Minnesota better NOW, rather than force their fans to continue waiting to do something, anything.

But the Wolves would probably have to make some side trades if they took on Aaron Brooks (re: also say goodbye to Jonny Flynn).

In any case, there will be lots of vultures circling the Twin Cities after Rubio's dad said, "Mi hijo no va a jugar por Los Timberwolves", and other teams will make it tough for us to win out on this one.

I would have rather had Ty Lawson for a future 1st rounder like Denver got.

Are you kidding me now they are going to be bringing Lawson off the bench behind Billups? :(

honestly, go slap yourself. the #1 or #2 pick arent always the best pick, plus memphis didnt need him neither did the thunder or the kings.

He can ALREADY almost pass like that. Rubio is already as good as DD thinks VSpan is.

I would get angry if Landry was sent there. They have Love, but may use Landry as a backup 4 especially since Big Al is out. I doubt it if DM can get it done, like you pointed out.

You do know Rubio is 6'4 right? That's tall for a PG. Taller than Aaron Brooks.

i hope ricky rubio comes to the rockets.

    trade
tracy mcgrady, aaron brooks and landry for amare stoudamire and leandro barbosa.

we try to get rid of brian cook in one of these trades.

then we sign and trade wafer, give them brent barry and someone we picked up this draft and/or a future pick for rubio

    so our line-up would be

    Pg rubio/lowry
    Sg Barbosa/artest
    Sf battier/artest/stoudamire
    Pf Scola/Stoudamire/Dorsey :)
    C Yao/Hayes

psh what cavs and spurs? we got a better team that them two.

He is a special talent. I would give up any combination of Battier/Landry/McGrady/draft picks to get him.

Got a feeling Battier is going to be included into any package that's being run through Minny.
