No, i just remember someone mentioned they'd take shane because they needed a locker room presence like him, i thought it was you who wrote it.. They have brewer, gomes, carney, i can't imagine they dont want these guys to continue to develop by playing big minutes...someone is going to be misused somewhere if they trade for shane, either shane or one of their wings..
I think he'll be more successful as strictly a system PG to be counted on to distribute over everything. He's not going to get to the rack and go crazy in the lane a la mr. parker or deron, cp3 he could be a lot like Nash except Nash has an incredible jump shot and Rubio's jumper doesn't really include jumping.
I never wrote that kind of stuff... The TWolved need a good wing player, and that is the reason why their GM got criticized for drafting two pgs.
Don't act like you wouldn't love the idea of having Rubio on this team. And enough gripes about his shooting/frame. He's 18 and has plenty of time to develop and tweek his jump shot. Not to mention the kid is probably still growing at 18, weight is not a hard thing to gain for an NBA player. No doubt this kid is going to be a superstar.
if we're in this "win now" mode and we are also obsessed with adding a distributor at the PG position Kidd wants out of Dallas...
Ricky Rubio = New York Knick, so forget about it and stop talking about the guy like its going to happen. See Donnie Walsh and Kahn go way back, Rubio wants to play in New York despite the cold weather and it has been reported that this is where he wants to play the most. Also they are supposedly working out a deal right now...If we can somehow offer a more intriguing package than NY then great, but it seems unlikely which is odd because NY is such an awful team and we are a great team and Aaron Brooks will be better than Nate Robinson, and Carl Landry is in my eyes a more efficient scorer but not quite the rebounder that David Lee is. But unfortunately Houston players are not popular. Personally I'm not incredibly worried because I think Jermaine Taylor is going to shock everyone and be the next D-Wade for us. In my fantasy world, Sergio Llull comes to summer league and proves to be a better true point guard than Aaron Brooks. He's bigger, he plays better defense and in my opinion might not need more time in Europe seeing has he already has 2 years under his belt. He has better offensive numbers than Rubio (Yet everyone goes ape**** over Rubio's fancy passing and ballhandling when Llull had extremely impressive ballhandling and passing skills himself while also hardly ever turning it over but his name isn't as catchy as Rubio's). In my estimation...Rubio has the passing/handling skills of Stockton, Nash...but has no offensive game. Llull's offensive game has been compared to a mix of Ginobli's driving abilities with a good outside shot and he might not have the flashiness of Rubio but he doesn't turn the rock over, can pass and can score (Rubio not so much)...more complete than Rubio at this point. Once the Rockets realize that defense is so much more important at the guard position than only offense (Brooks) they will trade him for a backup center/ big forward. In my fantasy world we get Chris Bosh from the raptors for Landry, Brooks, and whatever else. Now feast your eyes upon the dominance that is the Rockets. G. Lowry/Llull - Defensive guard combo, SG - Artest, Taylor (If Taylor starts putting up DWade type numbers then he starts getting the start with Artest playing SF and Battier playing the vital sixth man role he is made for). SF - Battier, Artest, Budinger (hopefully budinger continues to grow as a ballplayer and becomes a defensive stopper as well as an offensive threat, he has the athleticism that many similar players to him lacked to do it). PF Bosh, Scola (Assuming he is not part of the package), Dorsey. C Yao Ming, Bosh can play here too when Yao is out with Scola at the power forward, Hopefully we pickup a backup big like Gortat for insurance.
GET RUBIO! that would be awesome if we did...i honestly would rather have rubio than amare...not because of talent but because i think rubio would fit in better and he is also a team player willing to learn and accept his role....on the other hand amare seems to have an attitude, and i dunno if he is willing to accept his role to fit into houston's style, plus the guy could opt out after next year.
See, screw NYC and Kahn is a new GM. He can't be dealing #5 picks away because of a friendship. Rockets have way more pieces than NYC. If it's just between us and them, and we want Rubio we should get this done. Nate Robinson and Lee for a #5 pick? I don't believe Minny will take that.
Yeah it'd be lovely if Jermaine Taylor was the next Dwayne Wade, Sergio Lull the next Gary Payton, and why not have Chase Budinger become the next Larry Bird?
Somebody make a new thread or cut and paste the article in here. I'm on my phone. Blogs.commercialappeal.com There's a blog post talking about the possible deals for 2. Houston offered TMac. Declined. Then Houston came back and offered Battier + Landry and other spare parts for 2 AND Gay. ..of course, declined again
Here is the blurb on the Houston trade offer. http://blogs.commercialappeal.com/the_memphis_edge/2009/06/griz-fail-to-land-randolph-and-much-more.html
Lets get this straight Ashes, in my fantasy world Taylor is the next DWade mainly because they are very similar in build and scoring ability. He put up big numbers against good teams out of his conference that had defenses set up only to stop him because he had pretty much no one reliable on his team. If Budinger becomes the next Larry Bird I'd be incredibly surprised but happy. Llull the next GP is just a stupid comparison, maybe the next (more athletic/slashing) Calderon but his game is nothing like the gloves at this point.
