I disagree with this. artest and battier on the same floor is a disaster offensively. that means we get to have artest at sg and take a ton of shots ( which are usually bad shots) and play mediocre defense. however, I agree with the nash part. ;)

If the guy becomes elite again, were not going to trade him. tmac being healthy and putting up real good numbers means he's staying till the end of the season.

Does this mean Tmac's trading value in this summer is larger than near the trading deadline?

Only crazy fools wouldn't like a package like Amare and Barbosa for Tmac. Amare is an elite PF that probably hasn't even hit his prime yet and Barbosa, a former 6th man of the year(if I'm correct) that's a good scorer and one of the fastest players in todays game. You have to be stupid no to want that, but I rather take Richardson over Barbosa cause I'm picky. :p

I like most of that ^ but I would still want Wafer on the team if we could keep him and maybe try and see what we can get for Landry, one of our PGs, and Brent Barry in a trade.

Does sound like it could definitely be him but I rather try and see if we could take Amare away from the Suns first. But with all of what the Chron has stated now, I don't have high hopes of us getting a high draft pick come the 25th. :(

Shane and Ron are great together as long as you don't let Artest handle. The Rox finally figured that out in the playoffs and forced Brooks to handle. It's too bad that Brooks isn't a better creator. I'd like to add a guy like Rubio or CP3 to Battier, Brooks, and Artest. That would be 30-35 minutes a piece for 4 guys at the 1,2, and 3............and would be hell for our opponents.

artest was having to play out of position imo. which was the sg. he took too many shots and they were terrible shot selections. on the defense note I agree that out defense was much better when they were on the floor. we were missing a playmaker kind of guy in the playoffs. brooks did show potential but was to inconsistant imo.

Let the treasure hunt game starts...

Hint 1: There are many teams looking to make cost-cutting moves, including the Nets, Timberwolves, Hawks, Jazz, Wizards, Grizzlies, Hornets, Bucks, Bobcats and Suns.
Hint 2: The problem is that when you take out the elite players no one would ever trade, the guys that can't or won't defend and the players with injury histories, there are not much left.

McGrady's salary being partially covered by insurance is fantastic news. You can add a whole bunch of teams looking to do a straight dump salary to the potential trade suitor list, as well as those teams looking to clear up cap space for 2010.

What is your basis for this assertion?

Objectively, the Rockets have scored more points per possession when the Artest/Battier combo play together than they did with only one of them or with neither of them.

Both wing possession are rather interchangeable. For example, while Ron was the primary defender on "SG" Brandon Roy, Battier spend more time chasing down "SG" Bryant. The "Player X plays out of possession at SG rather than SF" is a pretty much meaningless statement.

This is the worst trade ever. You want to trade our BIGGEST bargaining chip in Mac, our flashy hustle PF, our starting PG, and a hardworking guy, for a decent PG, a below average PF/C, and a decent SG?

I might do just TMac for all three people. Maybe.

Exactly, remember not even Kobe can hang with a motivated Tmac. Wait I can even remember the last time....

Ok, so we'll be aggressive in pursuing players...but, we also have some terrific players of our own. How much would it take to sign:

    Artest
    Wafer
some of our other core players that will be free agents in the next few years

That really does change everything, and I would have figured the CF Hive mind would have known about it. Was this a recent development, or just something that passed under the radar?

Oh, and Tracy is gone, gone, gone.

The Rockets not standing pat comment, and the "We're not seeking to trade Tracy McGrady" comment goes against each other. Not standing pat mean's they're gonna consider all the trade-ables they can. It really doesnt matter if its the Rockets or another team instigating the talk if the Rockets dont mind closing a deal.

The wing positions are interchangeable, but there is no doubt that we suffered big time when Ron took multiple 3 point shots per game. Shane did much better at home but did poorly on the road offensively.
The points per possession gain with Ron and Shane doesn't make them ideal players on offense either. Their combined defensive impact does help, but we need more help at the swingman spot. If Tracy was healthy and motivated to play on both ends of the court which unfortunately hardly ever happened,it would have solved a lot of our problems.

Won't that insurance company stop paying his salary as soon as he starts playing? He can't be deemed an injured player or with an existing condition ala Mobley then. I'm assuming his new ball club with have to pay 23 M as an expiring contract in this case. It will all depend on how desperate they are in moving players with large contracts. The Rockets might get some quality back in return but get stuck with a bad contract or two as well. Is that really worth it,instead of not getting any players back after his contract expires?
