[CHRON] Rockets Sign Rashad McCants

Very nice.


This guy is absolutely loaded. The problem is he's never come close to realizing his potential. Rashad has incredible athletic ability and some amazing skills. (especially shooting from downtown)McCants dominated in the ACC and had the aforementioned montser workout. I would have thought he'd have broken out as an NBA player by now. Just the same, he is a steal. I wonder what Rashad did to fall so far.

McCants at minimum is a good roleplayer on a title team.

 

no kidding. i knew he hasn't done well, but to have nothing guaranteed...wow. Maybe he'll have a chip on his shoulder...and a good one.

 

Cook is an expiring, so it wouldn't hurt too much to cut him. Barry's gone of course. You also listed Ariza twice.

Removing Yao and McGrady gives us a depth chart of...

Brooks/Lowry
Ariza/Taylor
Battier/Budinger
Scola/Landry
Andersen/Hayes

That leaves 3 roster spots for Dorsey, Cook, McCants, Pops, Conroy and Temple. I like McCants, Pops and Dorsey out of that group. I think Conroy's a player, but I prefer McCants because of his size and proven scoring ability. I think he has a good enough handle to play the point in a pinch as well, especially in Adelman's system.

Today is the anniversary of Landry's deal, so we can officially trade him. I could see him being moved in a deal, I'd lean towards Chris Bosh, but don't take my word for it

Sweet!! I love this signing. I told my cousin just on Sunday that I was hoping we signed either Desmond Mason (which got signed) or McCants to fill the Wafer void. Im liking this deal. Hope he sticks.
