I totally agree, the Rockets need a backup PG desperately, I honestly think Jeremy Lin would have been very good in that role. DD
Yes, I remarked earlier that 40+ mpg is doable, thinking specifically of Francis, Mobley and Norris. But that wasn't a compressed season, though. The compressed season changes things.
Try Lee? Just thinking out loud. I know Lee probably isn't a better PG than Dragic, but at least the defense wouldn't drop when Lowry sits. Play Lee alongside Martin. Bring the ball up and give it to Martin and let him do his thing. This may buy a few minutes for Lowry to rest. Do it in the first half when Martin is usually the most productive.
Is that really a bad thing? TWill hasn't shown much in limited minutes this year. His play wasn't horrible, but he really made no impact whatsoever and still can't play team basketball. He's far below anyone in the rotation and below Bud as well.
I think he is now EXTREMELY underrated... The guy can play and he can play big in the playoffs. He has proven that... I wish he was in Dragic's role.
Me too....we actually traded away a starting PG for a backup one that is worse. I know it was attitude and contract, but that was not an upgrade trade at all. DD
If AB could play like he did in his MIP season, he'd be wonderful to have on our team right now. He'd take a lot of pressure off of Lowry as a scorer late in games. Do you think the Rockets should reach out to him after he gets out of his contract in China, or has that bridge been burned?
AB is a restricted free agent. I believe the most that Houston can offer him, even after he gets out of the contract in China (which won't be until March, I believe, when his team's season finishes) is $2.5 million prorated for a couple years, which Phoenix can (and will very likely) match. Wilson Chandler is another restricted FA.
AB couldn't run the PnR at all under Adelman to the the extent that Rick ditched the idea and let him iso. He's going to have to under McHale. It can only be a disaster.
