You're comparing two different styles. As much as i loved francis... he was NEVER as quick as nash/brooks. Francis was a half-court iso player playing in a system that didnt have a lot of ball or player movement. Nash and Brooks have played in VERY SIMILAR styles their whole careers. (not sure about nash's first few years in phx though) which is why i drew that comparison.

Not a bad comparison except Nash has always been a better shooter and Kidd has always been a better rebounder and defender (just look at his steals numbers throughout his career). Nobody compares Kidd to AB because AB's a better shooter, scorer, and quicker, but not known for his defense or rebounding abilities.

I doubt this big time.I think they will look for yao if its a easy play and he's single covered, but the old way of watching him fight for position and the offense stagnates is gone. They will look and then they will go into a pick and and roll situation. Those old days are gone.

I agree with this.. I think RA will also start to use Yao much like he did Vlade in Sacramento in the high post and let Yao take those 15-17ft jumpers which we've seen he can make..just needs to become more consistent. Yeah, he's 7'6 and you'd want him closer to the basket, but i dont think RA wants to put any more risk to Yao's feet. Those feet get killed in the paint!

I think they mix in some of his posting up and some at the high post...if Yao could work on his 3ball that would be really something great to add to the team.

Stop running Leeb...it is put up time !

    ;)

Let's see your posts on Brooks being the answer, and please have them predate mine....come on...lol....

Yeah, I think that's pretty much how Adelman said he wanted the team to play last year, particularly after the Alston trade.

The ball doesn't have to drop down to Yao. If he's open, get it to him. Otherwise, quickly get into something else and take advantage of the attention Yao is drawing underneath.

I agree. It'll be fun, at least to me, watching Yao adapt to the "new Rockets" in Adelman's system. I really don't think we are going to return to the old days re Yao. IMO, Yao will adapt. He could start by losing some weight and getting quicker, like he was when he first came over.

some ppl here are just like the reporters, makin a big deal out of a couple of simple sentences. all adleman said is that brooks needs to work on his weak points but will come in time. he did not say anything about trading or that he is dissappointed in brooks.

Well, it's clearly Adelman is calling Brooks out on this.. I have been watching Brooks since he was in U of O (I was a duck) and praise him for his scoring ability, but if you watch his games closely, he does need a superior decision maker to make him most efficient..

Yes, he has the tools to become an allstar PG, but unfortunately, he doesn't have the brain to utilize those tools, at least not yet.. As far as I can remember, he has been searching for that brain for 4-5 years already and no luck. I am not sure if he can find it some day, but if I am the Rox management, I would start looking for a replacement for Brooks if they think the answer is not in Lowry..

I agree. He has the skills and the potential. I'd still like to see the team pick up another playmaker/go-to closer at the SG position.

Only problem with brooks he's just too small to finish at the rim in end of games situations when refs swallow their whistle, thats why we need a wing player as our finisher someone who can play above the rim and finish with contact.

I agree he has the skills. He's probably the most capable on our team. But come'on...if he's our go to guy, we have issues.

    Bring a star in already.

AB will be an awesome go-to player once he earns respect from refs. However Adelman did not mention it.

Didn't Nash take a while to learn? Nash was traded from Phoenix to Dallas as a youngster, and I remember that he was often booed by the home team fans in his first year in Dallas. Dude was definitely a late bloomer, but eventually he became a MVP.

    Let's be patient with Brooks.

I think he did in a round about way, by his comment on Brooks needing to utilize more stop and pops....there probably won't be any late in the fourth quarter calls if Aaron insists on driving through the paint when it's clogged. Some of that is probably hard to see at the speeds that Brooks is going at (the arm fouls when he goes for the layup) to be fair to the refs.

This was a long time ago, but I do remember quite vividly Mavs fans were not found of Nash in his first year there. Subsequently, Nash's play slowly evolved where he became a complete pg.
