scola is way better than oberto. as far as players from argentina, he's only second to ginobli right now. he won't be as good as ginobli, but once he understands the nba more he could be very close.

I don't think he'll lose his post game, when Yao's on the court, who ever is the PF that's playing aside him would definitely try to get the ball into Yao's hands instead of fighting on their own. But once Yao sits on the bench, the rox still hav a threat to the opponent's post becuz of the presence of scola, and the rox definitely need that.

ditto, I don't think he'll be quite there. I could definitely see him being an 18-20/10 guy. will he ever be that in our offense? no, but the fact that he would / could be that for someone else means for us he'll be perfect.

i don't expect him to average 20/10 in our team either, since his offense is best when in the post and he's on the same team with Yao. but as u said, if hes capable of putting up numbers like 20 points 10 rebounds a game, he'll really help us especially when Yao's sitting on the bench

My biggest concern this season was Scola...and after actually getting to see him in person, I'm no longer concerned.

This could be a special season. A REALLY special season. I'm trying not to think about it too much. :)

I see him 13-15 pts and 7-8 rbds average, but how he gets those numbers is key, as most of them will be hustle plays. I do foresee the Rox going small and Scola will play the post when Yao goes out.

that was the best part about him, he seems to play a little bigger than the "6'9" he's listed at...maybe even 6'10ish. when we go small and he plays center he's still quite effective. I love that about the guy.

you won't find a more intelligent player either, I love his passes.

    Rambis? RAMBIS?!?

Puhleeze. Don't insult our new PF like that. Scola already has more skills than Rambis ever dreamed of having.

He has only averaged about 9.75pts 6.75rbs so far in preseason. I think 10 pts 7 rbs is a fair expectation. I don't see him getting 15pts a game.

On the other note, someone from Cleveland who averaged 7pts and 6rbs and was a bench player is asking 9mil per year right now.

While Scola is only taking the MLE while paying his own buyout to play for us. :D

What a player. He fits perfectly into our system.

Even better! I keep forgetting that we split the MLE to sign others.

Scola just looks like a winner. He's got the right attitude, skills, and basketball IQ. Once he has adjusted to NBA style (I don't see it taking too long), I think he will be the key acquisition that takes us to the next level. When I see Yao,Scola,Battier together, I see a lot of blocks, and charges. The Great Wall of China definitely got stronger with Scola around.

Difficult, didnt Rick Adelman just say that our inside rotation would be Yao/Hayes/Scola?

Rambis was a nice player. And it's funny you mention him; check out Chuck Hayes's "most similar player" on the bottom of his b-r page:

Rambis was Ryan Bowen on steriods -- a moderately talented player who hustled his way to NBA minutes. Not to make light of that kind of player, because sometimes they can be absolute necessities. On some Laker teams that had a tendency to occasionally put it on cruise control, Rambis was a valuable person to have around because he guilt-ed the stars into putting forth the effort.

Scola, on the other hand, is a proven winner, a team leader and already has more developed WAY past the point Rambis ever did. I honestly see no resemblance between the two, apart from them both always playing hard.
