they have calderon, jarret jack, and banks in their backcourt who they are HEAVILY committed to. they don't need ab and it is excessive to give up brooks. maybe fillers and the knicks 2011 option pick or maybe both of the knicks picks should suffice. in fact, that would be a very nice haul for a player they expect to lose in free agency.

 

i'm sure they'd love to dump calderon/banks on the rockets in a s&t.

 

lol they'd love to, but they won't. the rockets would be stupid to take on those contracts in a sign and trade. they know they can't package those terrible contracts with bosh. they have said as much since they said they only want young players and picks for bosh. if they only get picks they will be happy. if they get a nice young CHEAP player they will be happy.

 

They have to start high, otherwise they'll get screwed pretty badly....and you're missing the part about them losing 30 mill if they sign directly with another team, so a sign and trade hasd its perks for both the old team and the player. the new team of course would prefer to sign the Fa for 30 mill less without gvigin up picks or young talent, but they may have to give up something of value if they want the FA bad enough and the FA insists on a S&T.
