I think this is another Gerald Green move. He's not going to be in the rotation. It's just so they can get a good look at him in practice and see what he's got. He'll probably be cut before the playoffs.

Great pickup by the Rockets! We needed depth badly, especially at the wing guard position. This guy is very good, athletic, can shoot, attack the basket and play defense. And he can run the floor. We need to get another body or two who can contribute off the bench.

I disagree. I think he is talented but just hasn't been given a chance. Spurs fans were upset that the Spurs let him go. They let him go at the same time as Scola and those were considered moves that hurt their youth. Rockets getting younger and more athletic!

Gerald Green was a guy who came out of college to early and didn't seem to grasp the NBA. White has played some in the NBA and has been in different leagues playing vry well.

I like him for the sheer fact that he'll give wafer some comp. I think Wafer has started to fall in love with shot recently and is not showing the team first concept that he had his first few weeks here. At least it'll give Adelman another option when Wafer is ice cold and yet keeps on chucking them shots lol

Some of you have some serious prejudice against athleticism. I guess it's too much to ask professional athletes to be athletic.

Instead of signing old ass brent barry and keeping out of place head, I thought the rox shouldve signed Matt Barnes. He's a guy that's 6'8, long and even before artest was aquired, if he needed to play 30+ mins, he could do it. That's why I kept saying get a guy that can play big minutes if a wing goes down, but of course, it doesn't matter now.

I remember this post from a while back, in which the author believes if anyone has or will ever "make change" off the top of the backboard (Goat-style), James White is the one to do it.

James White vs. A Jumping Myth:

In this recession, we need somebody on the Rockets who can spare some "change."

This will solve the Yao-fronting problem. We have good shooters and a super athelitc slasher who can cut hard to the basket. Yaahoo!

    I just hope he's a team player, I haven't seenthis guy play.

A couple of inches from the top of the backboard is actually very far from being able to pick something up from, or put something onto the top of the backboard. For one, James is a one foot jumper, meaning he relies on speed and would be flying by too quickly to do anything in flight. Any of this "making change" business would have to be accomplished by a 2-foot jumper. I'm sure it'll happen someday, but I don't think James White has any chance.

Darnell Hillman and David Thompson could do that, back in the day.

Was trying to think of another NBA comparison than Gerald Green and there he was in the T-Wolves game, Rodney Carney. Good on the open floor, will razzle dazzle in garbage time, no particularly dominant skill in his skill set but has all the athletic tools to be a good defender.

If he's signed my guess is this will be like another last year Bobby Jones type signing, 1 maybe 2 10 day deals then out. I dont see him filling a particular position of need, but maybe he can stick around like Mike Harris did.

A couple of those foul lines dunks are from about 4 inches BEHIND the line. Most NBA players that have done in contests it have taken off from the line itself. Pretty impressive. What's more impressive is that he was dribbling the ball before he took off, so that means he's got pretty good handles and timing to pull it off, and the ridiculous ability to dunk from there, of course.
