Are you kidding me?? Have you seen guys posting on here saying he is better than T-Mac. Start Wafer over McGrady he is better than McGrady. Or start Wafer over Shane. That sounds like someone who is overrated. Last but not least I honestly don't think Wafer has developed his game. He still has work to do. Alot

2 reasons. 1. You have to ask JVG about that one. 2. He came out his mouth and said he is the Greek T-Mac :D Something like that. Im not sure. I think that one was a rumor.

Let's be very clear San Antonio is where they are because of luck and a bit trickery. First the trickery; sitting Robinson at the end of the season made them so pathetic they wound up with one of the worst records in the league. Second the luck of the draw got them the best player in his era. There is no Rocket science here. As for Ginoboli... The word is they were tight for money and thought they would draft Ginobli for the future. And Parker was all Buford. Popovich wanted nothing to do with him and prefered Tinsley and Omar Cook.

I will give credit for Buford being ahead of the euro scouting. But it was only him and not some super management group. And now the rest of the league has cut up and the Spurs haven't had a productive first round pick since Parker. Batum would have been a good pick but alas their brain group was foiled by the Rockets. The Spurs are not so superior in player decisions. You only need look at the scola decision to see how badly they botched that one up. That may go down as the biggest blunder in Spurs history. They did luck out with Duncan and it has made that franchise one of the top for a while.

Why is San Antonio even in this discussion [Scola] -- for whatever reason [Scola] I can't seem to get my mind [Scola] around the issue ..?

Ok, can't speak for those sayin he should start over either of those 2. But come on now you're calling him overrated by fans' standards??? Of course we are gonna overrate him a lil, we haven't had someone play as he has since.... I don't even remember the last time. (sad) *sigh*

Well I consider him a very aggresive role player that hits the open shot when he gets it consistently unlike another guy that was just waived.

And of course he has a lot of work to get done, so does Aaron, and Carl, and Kyle. They are still very young players and seem to be showing great upside performing with this team. So give em a chance before you classify them as good for nothin journey men...

    Have a heart. :( lol

If he is signed by today, will he still be eligible for the playoffs?

James White, soon to be the Rockets' latest addition according to someone in the know (Feigen), is a very interesting player.

The guy can fly, which makes him entertaining to watch, but will he be able to contribute on a squad like this?

He is similar to Gerald Green, as in he has to prove he can be been more than a dunking sideshow than an all-around basketball player.

I will say that White has thrown down a couple of the most spectacular dunks I have ever seen.

There aren't many guys on the planet who can take off from the foul line.

Well, White is the only one I have ever seen take off from the foul line for a two-handed, double-pump jam. And this was in high school.

    It was ridiculous.

Now the boy has started taking off from the foul line and bringing the ball under one leg while in the air before dunking it, which is even more ridiculous. That dunk has been done before, but never from anywhere near as far out as White can do it. When you hear the guy can fly, it's for real.

I don't know how good of a basketball player he can be - he has been trying to stick in the NBA for three seasons - but he can be fun to watch.

So I guess since Feigen is the one in the know he will be with the team soon.

I'm a little more optimistic after reading this and seeing how this teamed has lacked dunking and athleticism over the past few years, the guys is perfect; maybe he can bring some fans to the Toyota Center and get some more cheering going. Funny how they call these guys athletes when 80% of our team is not athletic :p

Not a rumor. He did actually say "I was T-Mac back in Greece", meaning he was a Greek star player.

i dont know if trading scola was a blunder for them. I think they knew they were giving up a good player, afterall Manu knows his game very well. Don't forget Tiago Splitter, that's the blunder. The Spurs didn't have a need for Scola initially, who can blame them for thinking that when they're winning titles. So they stashed him. When they had the chance to draft splitter, they did, seeing him as a better investment than Scola since he's younger and could come in as TD was ending his career. That's why they didn't sweat Trading Scola, also, apparently Manu was lobbying for Scola, asking the spurs to let Scola go to another team, Manu knew how much Scola wanted to play here and was just looking out for his friend. So the spurs did Scola a favor really. Similar to houston doing luther a favor by releasing him now so he can sign elsewhere. Obviously a much minor favor, but the idea is the same. Some organizations actually have a heart. The spurs have always been sure of themselves and they believe they can win it all without Scola and they had bigger issues to address at the swingman position. The mistake was thinking Tiago would come to the NBA. He ended up staying in Europe.

His stats in Euroleague with Fenerbahçe aren't too encouraging... :/

    Link

I wish he has improved, because with this stats as scorer in Europe, you are not an NBA player.

You guys are WAY over thinking this move -- White vs. James in the 2010 dunk contest -- the world wants this to happen.

White rock'n a Rockets jersey would be sick.

Not saying because I'm a fanboy (I was happy to see him go for scola), but I believe that quote was taken out of context. I think at the time Vspan was saying he had the ball a lot and was asked to make plays for his team mates back in Greece, and now he was reduced to a spot up jumpshooter by JVG. The "I was Tmac in Greece" quote I think was used to drive home the point he was supposed to be a playmaker, instead of being a spot shooter like what JVG was trying to do.

That's what JVG said. Vspan never admitted to that. He said his role was that of Tmac on this team. A creator and distributor. He never compared his talent level to Tmac's. That was all Van Dummy trying to make a fan favorite out to be a primadonna. Ironically it was the boy JVG compared him to that was the primadonna. And now we can finally put end to miserable Van Grumpy era with the end of Tmac's rocket career. I digress...
