I think Al Jefferson is a good plan b if we don't have to give up too much. It is Kahn so we could probably get him for Jeffries+Andersen+trade exception.
I highly anticipate it. I'd be interested if you would discuss the new value of the knicks picks post lebron's choice as well.
He may not get the full MLE, but he not going to take the minimum. So who else would you like to get to back up Yao.
I am going to mark when Miami comes to Houston on my calender. As of right now, Bosh is probably going to have to play center and I hope Yao whomps all over Bosh and the Rockets run right through the Heats.
Brad Miller's never made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs...so not quite seeing your point here?
Does anyone else think Josh Childress would be a nice fit coming off the bench. We could use some toughness and athleticism at the three spot and he could also slide to the four if we needed him to. A 2nd unit of Lowry, Budd/Taylor, Childress, Patterson/Hill/Chuck , Brad Miller would be nice.
Yep, Bill Simmons had a tweet a few days ago that basically said a bunch of teams where throwing money around like crazy and the smart GMs like Morey, Presti and Buford would wait for some great bargins.
Bosh Broke his face right before the playoffs and it probably cost Toronto their chances last year and is hurt a plenty. Wade is injury prone and is riding the coat tails of his championship years ago(which is questionable) and has been putting up numbers on an inferior team in an inferior league.
Yea, that would be awesome...... No all stars, and a roster full of role players. That is EXACTLY what we need to get to the promised land. At least, when he is healthy we have a top 3 center in the league. It is remarkable how many of you are writing him off and forgetting how valuable he is when healthy. Big Z had the same surgery and he has not had any foot problems since....not too mention, Yao is probably the most dedicated and hardest working Rocket to ever put on the uniform. If healthy, he is going to make everyone around him better. Our half court offense will be improved drastically. I can see it now. Double team comes down on Yao, and he has the option of KMart, AB, or Ariza to make it rain from the outside. He is going to help bring Clutch City back to where it should be.
No talk about the precise value of the Knicks' picks, since there is no telling where they could land (anywhere from #2 to #29 on the pick swap). The article is more about what the Rockets may be able to do at the trade deadline and next summer, provided they play their cards right this (Bosh-less) summer.
Presti and Buford can wait because they already have the pieces in place. Morey cannot. Rockets basically have nothing to build on. We need big and lucky trades to get the rebuilding going. So far, we don't have that. Morey did not wait either. He clearly went after Bosh hard. Morey knew it well.
Seems like it ought to be "big name or nothing" for the Rockets. We already have two great youngsters in Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson; there will be few enough minutes for them already between Scola and Yao playing the roles as starting bigs. After drafting another big man, picking up a free agent backup center seems like, to put it lightly, a bad idea. Instead, the Rockets need to look for a clear upgrade. It's obviously not Chris Bosh. How about Al Jefferson? Chris Paul? Maybe a wing like Iggy, Granger, or Deng? It's very possible and indeed even likely that none of those deals can be worked, due to financial issues (bad contracts like Iggy's and Deng's) cost in young players and picks (Granger, Jefferson) or unwillingness of the other team to trade (Chris Paul). But kick the tires and see what's possible. If there aren't any big name players available for an acceptable price, stand pat; don't use the MLE. We have a pretty stacked roster already, and do not need more roleplayers. Let's continue to develop what we've got and see where it takes us with a healthy Yao, and if a deal for a big name upgrade becomes more of a possibility at the trade deadline, pursue it then. In the meantime, we're in the playoffs, probably around the fifth or sixth seed. And there's always a chance.
This may not be popular, but maybe the best plan b is to wait until feb for the trading dead line and feast on those teams going into panic mode.
